it does what is says on the tin! Very detailed narrative about how each album was conceived, recorded, produced including cover art. Virtually a self-contained story for each album which can be read independently of the rest of the book. High quality printing on lavish paper. Quality book. Great for the true Bowie fans.

Good,but not what i expected 8 Aug. 2013

Those of you expecting an in-depth analysis of Bowie's recorded output will be disappointed in this book. Some of the chapters(each named after an album in chronological order)barely scrape the surface.for example, the chapter on heroes never mentions robert fripp, the one on lodger doesnt mention adrian belew.what you do get is a coffee table book with lots of photos(actually, more photos than text). With a title of "album by album" i was expecting a little more detail. P.S. the Amazon description of this book is totally misleading. their claim that fans can "explore every track in detail" is just not true.all you get is a discography at the end of the book.if you want a book that actually fits that description get "the complete david bowie" by nicholas pegg.
