C5 noise-isolating in-ear headphones bring you amazingly natural acoustics and fit so comfortably and securely you'll hardly be aware you're wearing them. Bowers & Wilkins unique Micro Porous Filter system makes sure that sound is open, spacious and full of rich, lifelike detail. So you can truly lose yourself in unadulterated sound, even when you're on the move.

Secure Loop design

They feature Bowers & Wilkins innovative Secure Loop design - loops of plastic-coated wire that curl around the inner rim of your ears and hold the in-ear headphones firmly in place. The C5s are also Tungsten Balanced, meaning that the headphones are weighted towards your ears, rather than away from them, for optimized noise isolation.

Whatever Bowers & Wilkins make, the goal is the same: the most natural, realistic sound possible. With C5, you can take true sound with you wherever you go. C5 is a mixture of long-held acoustic principles and technological advances, key among which is the Micro Porous Filter. Together with C5's noise-isolating design, this allows users to lose themselves in flawless audio.

Micro Porous Filter

If you want a spacious sound, you need room to breathe. Not a problem for a large speaker, but quite a challenge for a set of headphones small enough to fit in your ears. With C5 in-ear headphones, Bowers & Wilkins engineers got around the problem with the Micro Porous Filter. Hundreds of microscopic steel balls act as a sonic diffuser, opening up the sound and making music feel remarkably rich and expansive.

Noise isolation

C5's snug fit and stunningly realistic sound means you can forget the rest of the world and lose yourself in music. At the same time, these in-ear headphones let in just enough ambient noise to allow you to retain your sense of place. Perfect for listening to music when you're out and about.

In leading recording studios around the world, music that will soon be heard everywhere is first heard through Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers. In London's world-famous Abbey Road Studios, all three main studios use Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series speakers to capture the output of the world's biggest selling artists.

Engineering innovation

Every discovery Bowers & Wilkins' scientists make in their dedicated Research and Development facility make influences how speakers all over the world are designed and built. Technologies such as Nautilus Tapering Tubes and Flowport start life in their high-end loudspeakers, but are also important factors in the likes of Zeppelin Air and their headphone range.

Doing it from day one

When John Bowers set up Bowers & Wilkins in 1966, experimentation in sound and recording was escalating rapidly. It was the time of Sergeant Pepper and Pet Sounds, and Bowers had a pioneering spirit to match. His ambition was revolutionary for the day, and remains so: to create a loudspeaker that neither adds nor takes away from the music. Bowers & Wilkins has been exploring the world of sound ever since. And they'll never settle for less than perfection.

The B&W C5 headphones are the newest addition to the headphone section of the company and what a great addition they are too.
Great sound with lovely response and great base define an innovative In Ear Monitor IEM.
Bowers and Wilkins are a company I have always highly respected. Even though I have never had the pleasure of owning any of their truly high end products, the ones I have owned have always been of great quality and design.
Last year I purchased the P5 Mobile Hi-Fi Concert for 1 Headphones - Black after deciding to replace my Shure SE420-K-EFS Sound Isolating Earphones - Black headphones which had gone missing.
As great as the P5's were, I took great issue with how warm my ears got when walking round London in the Summer. This led me to hastily offloading the - in my opinion - flawed product.
I went back to the Shure SE-420's once again and that was that.
Come late 2011 and once again I was without my 420's. This time I had been an idiot and had dropped them outside my car door whilst getting out and returned to find the headphones smashed to smithereens - not a pretty sight I assure you!
Whilst at the airport just a week ago I noticed that I had become fed up with Apples signature, crap, headphones and needed something else.

Surprisingly my choices were varied, even at the airport. I narrowed down my choices to

I did not buy on Amazon - as I found a large High St store with a 20% discount. I really wanted to try these before buying and went to a high end audio shop, but alas, as other stores said, they will not allow testing for hygiene reasons.

I must have weird ears as I have dozens of pairs of in ear headphones/headsets. and none stay in while walking let alone exercising.

My goto reference headphone is the multi award winning AKG K451.

When I first put in the B&W C5 I was - oh my, £120 down the drain.... but, experiment, be patient with the supplied tips, fitting and WOW.

They sound great. I like bass, but had to turn down my EQ settings a little. No distortion at elevated volume levels at all. Apparently B&W are renowned for having their own unique tone - they do, but very nice it is too.

Fitting? Yes they take a while to get used to the unique way of holding these babies in place, but hold they do.

Build quality looks good - with the cables looking especially tough... only time will tell, but I tend to look after my gear and at this price, they are by far the most expensive headset I have.

Bought these from Amazon great service, always bought Shure headphones in the past, always had problems with the connection at the headphones with the insulation coming a way etc. these B &W are a solid connection and very secure in your ear, sound as good as the Shure and slightly cheaper.

I have had to send my pairs back 4 times over the course of 18 months with the same fault each time - the wire appears to degrade and the sound starts cutting out in one or both ears. Despite the service being excellent at B&W and getting a replacement and an apology every time, clearly I'm going to be left high and dry when the warranty runs out.

On top of that, the sound is above average but doesn't have the separation, detail and warmth you'd expect of high-end earphones. Nowhere near as good as the Sennheiser ie8's I had before and even the Final Audio Design Adagio iii's I bought to use whilst the C5's are off being replaced again.

This it the best sound ever in the price zone.
I personally had other brands, only AKG at the similar price worth it,
beats, sony, etc at the same price was really far away behind, simply put it this way.

Was very sceptical about paying this amount for a pair of earphones but they are worth every penny.

Use them for an iPhone 5 and the sound is amazing. Once in your ears, any outside noise is completely blocked out, so you can surround yourself in high quality music.

The fact it has a microphone within the product is a bonus itself.

The only issue I have at the moment is finding a loop size that sits comfortably within my inner ear, but that takes practise, so not something to knock a star off.

As an added incentive, if you register the product, Bowers & Wilkins gives you a 3 month free subscription to high quality audio which you can download and allows you to use the headphones to the fullest!
