5.0 out of 5 stars The "Dark Crescent Sisterhood" book 3 30 Dec 2008
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Mass Market Paperback
"Bound by Light" is the final book in AW's fantastic "Dark Crescent Sisterhood" trilogy and a truly fitting end for this brilliant urban paranormal romance series. In this book Merilee; who has power over air, it targeted by an Old One, an ancient demon behind the establishment and machinations of evil organisation the Legion. Wanting to destroy humanity and father a new race using Merilee and other Sybils as breeding stock, the fate of the world rests on the shoulders of the Dark Crescent Sisterhood, the Occult Crimes Unit of NYPD and a variety of man made demonic creatures who now battle for the side of good.

Like the rest of her triad, Merilee falls for a Lowell brother; however Jake is far more demonic than his brothers with his pale skin, talons and leathery wings. Able to morph into a human shape takes its toll on Jake; however he is willing to do anything to be with Merilee and even give up his life and humanity to ensure her safety.

Yet again AW's final chapters in "Bound by Light" take on almost epic proportions as the good guys battle the most powerful enemy they have ever faced and deal with the tragic loss of loved ones. I warn you that an established figure who appears in all 3 books meets a particularly gory end which shatters the heart of one Sybil; however she certainly gets her revenge. Rich in intense action, hot passion and heart breaking acts of betrayal this book is absolutely riveting and whilst there is definite closure, I feel disappointed that this short series has finally ended. Perhaps this author would consider writing further books featuring the next generation of elemental warriors?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the trilogy 3 Sep 2008
By Jessie Potts - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This was the best book of the trilogy so far. I was nervous at first in regards to Jake being 7-8 when he was changed into a demon. I mean obviously he was no longer a child, yet he still had memories of being a little boy. Anna Windsor did excellent though and the reader no longer thinks of Jake in those terms.

Jake is special he has 'light' inside of him that allows him to heal sybils as well as himself. He fears though that he is not worthy of life and Merilee because of the atrocities he committed while his Talisman was being held against him. Merilee really shines in this book and we see the quiet strength explode from the previous two novels. Andy really, really, grows up, as a mother and as a cop. We see sides of characters that was previously understated or hidden completely.

Windsor grew as an author in this novel. Bound by Shadow was a great intro, but lacked a little in the plot/development; Bound by Flame really helped Windsor come in to her own and had great character development and intriguing story line. Bound by Light by far was a great ending to the trilogy and all the characters were tested and strengthened.

I sincerely hope that Windsor will visit the Dark Crescent Sisterhood again, and tell Andy's story and maybe another triads/quads. Definite read.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great miniseries that sub-genre fans will relish. 3 Sep 2008
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
While his two brothers seem ecstatic over meeting their soul mates (see BOUND BY SHADOW and BOUND BY FLAME) Astaroth demon Jake Lowell feels alone as he just wants to regain his humanity. However, he knows that his fantasy will remain just a dream as the mage experts insist that is impossible. Still in spite of his depression and being manipulated by a malevolent using him as a stalker, he feels good for his brothers and follows the orders to protect the only non-pregnant Sybil triad sister air Sybil Merilee Alexander.

Meanwhile the Old One is leading his Legion on a quest to destroy humanity. This powerful demon knows the time is right as two of the Sybils are in delicate conditions. All he and his minion must do is kill the third one, Melanie. Jake finds his human side surface at the wrong time as he needs to keep the Sybil he is falling in love with safe, but to do that he requires the full power of the demon inside him.

The third Dark Crescent Sisterhood is urban romantic fantasy at its best as part of a stupendous saga. The story line is action-packed as the audience follows the latest confrontation between the Sybils and the Legion. This time the odds are more overwhelming than ever as the good guys are somewhat weakened while the evil ones have their top gun strengthens the darkness. This is a great miniseries that sub-genre fans will relish.

4.0 out of 5 stars All the sensual romance I crave without sacrificing the plot or paranormal elements 13 Jun 2009
By Mrs. Baumann - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Plot Summary: Merilee Alexander is a wind Sybil, one of three magical female warriors who help protect New York City. She's being partnered with Jake Lowell, a full-blooded Astaroth demon, and a member of NYPD's Occult Crimes Unit. Jake has been trying to ditch the demon within his own skin, and he's unwilling to start a relationship with Merilee despite his feelings for her. Meanwhile something is committing heinous crimes against the city's psychic residents, and Merilee's doom-laced dreams portend a disaster of apocalyptic proportions.

Sex me up! This paranormal romance has all the wonderful intense sensuality that I'm always hoping to find, but seldom do. I love it when an author takes the time to build up a romance from one heated look, and then gives me time to savor the attraction before unleashing a raging inferno of lust. It was all well done here. I read a blurb that said the author has written erotic fantasy before, and it certainly shows - she's a smooth operator.

What makes this book great is the detailed paranormal world, which was full of unique new creatures and concepts, which includes the villain. He wasn't just a menacing presence in the background, because Windsor kept him at the forefront, oozing pure evil into Merliee's dreams, or inflicting his own brand of hell on his victims. The Sybils are impressive women, but they are far from invincible, and they need the help of Jake and the other Astaroth demons to fight the supernatural menace threatening the city.

I thought Jake was sexy, whether in his demon or human form, and his internal conflict gave him depth. This is the third book in a trilogy, and I suspect it might be the best one (I haven't read the first two), because I have a hard time seeing Windsor top this strong, tortured hero. Merilee is a respectable female lead and I have no complaints, but Jake definitely makes this one tick. I hope Ms. Windsor will write more paranormal romances to top this one.
