Product Description

Bound and Hagged - Greyson Forrester was born and raised to be a powerful wizard. Then it all came crashing down when friends and family were killed when he was a teenager and he got the blame. His powers bound and banished from his home, he was given seven years to figure out what happened and to try and clear his name.
The clock has almost run out and he is chasing dead end leads when an old friend calls in a marker. Two girls have been kidnapped, and the few powers he has left to him have made him one of the best trackers in the supernatural world.
With his reputation following him, Greyson has made some interesting friends and influential enemies on this side of the veil, and beyond.
And they all seem to have their hands in this case. Or tentacles.

The Home Summonings series is a dark comedy set where gods and monsters, angels and demons, and obnoxious faerie are all trying to make their way in the world that has dismissed them as myth, or worse forgotten them. Now some of them want to be remembered.

5.0 out of 5 stars And all the Gods meet 22 April 2014
By Sarah G - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an interesting book that dives directly into fantasy. Greyson Forrester is an outcast wizard with limitations on his magical ability due to a puzzle in his past. As he works to survive the day to day (hell hounds and having enough healing potions) the sword of Damocles is ever present regarding the "inquisition" he is facing. And thus the seeds for future novels have already been planted.

Working with Grey as he stretches the boundaries of his magical potential we are also greeted with numerous Greek, Norse and Celtic Gods that have been jammed together in this parallel world. Grey identifies no allegiances except to those who have clearly helped him during his mysterious past including Henri the Magnificent, Father Mike, and the Amazons Priscilla and Drea.

While the book lacks some depth, there is clear potential as more characters were introduced. My favorite scene just might include Pandora's Box (I love Greek mythology!) and the introduction of Melvin. It makes for a solid read on a relaxing day that would be suitable for a wide range of ages. It will be interesting to see just where this band of teammates will ultimately wind up - and on which side of the hell hounds!

4.0 out of 5 stars Formation of a new magical anti-hero 17 April 2014

Impressive character development from this brand new author. Interesting plot with some wicked twist provided me with enough intrigue with a dose of laughter as well. Greyson Forrester is the guy you want to go out and have a beer with and have your back when coming up against a hellhound or two on that day your luck is just running out. Just enough of a twisted sense of humor. His band of merry men (and women) albeit a dysfunctional support group help move the story along with a punch. I got a feeling we haven't seen the last of Drea either. And of course we have to have more Melvin. It is very apparent this is just the first in the story arc that is building. Left us with a taste for more.

I can not write a proper review for the fact that I would post spoilers! I will say this though, Bound & Hagged is an amazing read! It put a grip on me from the first chapter. I could not put it down! Its a suitable read for a wide range of ages. If you like fantasy and Greek Mythology then you WILL love this book! I am certain we will be seeing more of James McDonald in the future!

4.0 out of 5 stars Some old, some new, some surprises 13 July 2014

This was pretty good. A main storyline in the background (which of course is not completed so you will buy the next book(s) and several smaller storylines throughout. Some cliche stuff, some twists on things, some new stuff. An interesting book and good for an evening's entertainment.
