I must reccommend this fine tale of one of the 1st century's truely independant women, Queen Boudicca, to all american readers of Roman and/or English history. Knowing the motivations behind one of early histories most colorful examples of a female leader gives important insight into the roles woman are trying to forge in today's contemporary world.Something American women battle for everyday.

Boudicca sets a fine example of the how the "weaker" sex is just a false label and every woman can find her strengths if she is compelled too. Boudicca's story and that of her enemies is told in very human terms through the exemplory writing of a master storyteller that we must hear more from. I will be keeping my eyes on Mr Baker and pray he gives us another fine glimpse into the past as he has done with this novella

Boudicca: Warrior Queen by Thomas Jerome Baker is an educational yet interesting read. I was intrigued and moved by the amazing story of this warrior queen. She was a woman that I have never heard of before now. I read this story with vigor, wanting to know what would happen next. Such a dynamic character was this woman.
This is an intense gripping story. Some based on facts and some his own imagination. Great storytelling! Plus, I always love a strong female. She will capture your attention. She was courageous and inspiring. Boudicca: Warrior Queen is a powerful story. My curiosity was sparked.

"Boudicca: Warrior Queen" by Thomas Jerome Baker is an amazing piece of historical writing. I live in the UK and lived in London but I knew next to nothing abotu Queen Boudicca and her role in early English history.
By means of multiple perspectives Baker presents fascinating insights into her life, her enemies and the 1st Century, the Roman Empire - a well written educational feast.

History is written by the victor. But, it took quite a bit of Rome's might to put her down. This account is not prettied up or turned into a fantasy. It is true to a woman who refused to be anything but true to who she was. A great look at a figure who made Rome work hard to beat her down, a woman a Roman found worth of mention even as he tried to disparage what and who she was.

Queen Boudicca was an awesome avenging angel of the British people. She proved that nobody can harm and disgrace a woman, her family and her people without suffering the consequences. She burnd London to the ground so bad that the evidence is still visible today for archaeologists. Let me echo the quote from Thomas Baker that was written by Kipling, because he was surely talking about Queen Boudicca: "If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!" (Kipling) This is a great book that women and girls and men and boys will enjoy reading. 5 stars!

Before this book I had never heard of Queen Boudicca ruler of the Iceni tribe and her war against the Romans. Often times with history books it seems the women that help shape that history are glossed over or never even mentioned.

However with Warrior Queen you get the full story of Queen Boudicca’s fight against the Romans and how she led her people bravely into battle, doing something even the Former King did not have the courage to do.

This was an enjoyable, informative and entertaining read. I really enjoyed learning about Queen Boudicca and I love the concept of getting to read and learn about other strong women in history that didn’t fairly get their side of the story told and I look forward to reading whatever Thomas Jerome Baker is working on next.
