5.0 out of 5 stars Chief Cook and Bottle Washer 24 Jun. 2011
By Bunny

Emma Smith's arrival in Devil's corner is marked by her knocking out a headlight on cowboy Deke Travers truck in lousy wet weather and he is stunned when she throws money at him to repair the damage. He sees her again in the kitchen when he sits at his usual eating place. Emma has temporarily replaced someone in the kitchen but she doesn't know it and when he returns Deke seizes the opportunity and offers her a role as their cook and housekeeper on the family ranch, looking after him, his dad and 3 brothers. In Deke's haste he doesn't give Emma much chance to speak so little Sammie Jo comes as a surprise but the guys all adapt. Deke is determined to unravel the mystery of Emma and when he does will that be the end of any chance of a future with Emma and Sammie or does true love win? A brilliant book, couldn't put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Feel Good Book 1 Oct. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Book is the first in a series of 4 books by Rita Hestand about 4 brothers living on a Ranch. This book is about the oldest brother, Deke, who along with his father tries to keep his brothers in order. Emma is on the run with a child that doesn't belong to her. She is caring for her cousin Kathleen's daughter after Kathleen died and she ends up in a small town working in a Diner.

She is offered the job of house-keeper to the Travers family, Deke needing a housekeeper and also planning to marry her off to one of his unruly brothers to try and calm him down. He doesn't plan on falling in love with Emma or 'her daugher', but that is exactly what happens.

I enjoyed this book, there is very little sexual wording and I would be willing to let my teenage cousins read it.

If you want a book that is not full of sexual inuendoes but full of family orientated story telling then is this the one for you. I am looking forward to reading the other 3 books in the series.

This story was a nice easy summer read, with little depth, but an enjoyable enough storyline. It was free, and yes, I am glad that I downloaded it.

An easy read, with very predictable HEA. OK for a free book but if I had paid for it I would have been very disappointed in the grammatical errors and the unrealistic way the few problems that crop up just happen to work out.

If it had a good editor I would have been tempted to try the rest of the series, but as it is I'll just delete it and move on to another author.
