Product Description

Our new combined plastic bottle and drink cans crusher has arrived it weighs 4 kilos It will reduce the size of plastic bottles and drink cans up to 3lts down to about 25mm Recyling can be fun with one of our recyling crushers. It will squash milk cartons (up to 3lts) , plastic bottles, juice cartons beer and soft drink cans of any size down to less than an inch or 25mm. The other great thing is it is wall mounted, put it outside by the bins, It will not rust away to nothing as this is made with very strong metal and powder coated, (if outside no doubt a bit of a touch up now and again with hammeright would not go a miss along with a bit of vasoline or grease on the runners) We do not mess about with loads of packaging it is sent in a plain carboard box with no markings on and fully recyclable Other useful facts, It weighs 4 kilos, its total height is 50cm (19") and 15cm (6"s) wide and 15cm deep We will send out by either DHL, MyHemes or Royal Mail Standard parcel service depending on the address in the UK, this includes, IOM, Scottish Highlands and Islands Instructions for use: Place plastic bottles in upright with filler out of hole at top, loosen cap and slowly bring leaver down to the bottom, do up cap (a tip if you are saving the caps, leave cap on for a short while to allow plastic to lock into shape then take it of) The same applies to milk cartons For can drinks just stand upright and pull the handle down and put in the recycling bin Warning: This is not a toy, so please do not allow children to use unless supervised and do not put fingers in any moving parts

Our rather small boxes, provided by the council for bottles and cans, are collected every fortnight and are usually filled to overflowing by then. This neat gadget crushes a 2 litre Sprite bottle down to a small disc of plastic, once you've mastered the technique which is not explained anywhere. 1.Remove the bottle top 2.Crush the bottle 3.put the cap back on while still in the machine...voila. This week for the first time we should be able to leave half empty boxes :-)

I really can't fault either the product or the seller.
I'll start with the Seller.
I ordered this on Friday 22nd December in the evening, on a normal delivery. On Saturday morning I was emailed to say it had been dispatched. On Sunday I had another email from the seller themselves to just thank me for the order and with instructions and tips for its use. I received the product today (27th) via a first class delivery. Considering we've had Christmas in between and also considering how busy Royal Mail is at this time of year I thought this was excellent service and left me wondering that if I'd have ordered this item on a Monday morning on a normal week I might be opening it the next day.
The Product
This has to be fixed to a solid wall, not a stud wall. That said, with the proper tools it will take 10 minutes max. Just 3 screws included with wall plugs is all you need. I'd recommend mounting it with the handle at about shoulder height as it needs to be pulled down through a 180 degree arc, (just to save you stooping). Overall the quality of the product quality is fairly good being made from heavy gauge steel plate. Another reviewer commented on the moving tray binding against the backplate. I also found this to be true but a liberal coating of grease or WD40 to the backplate will resolve that problem. I've a feeling that by over tightening the fixings probably causes the plate to deflect so experiment by using washers on the bottom fixing to shim out the plate if you're so inclined, but my problem disappeared with a little lubricant.
Once you've got it fixed, it's playtime. It's amazing the amount of cans and bottles a family and friends can accrue over the Christmas period.

Arrived on time. Works really well and is simple to operate. The length of the operating lever should enable all but the very weakest to get good results.

more robust than many of the similar items, and the length of the crusher handle gives good leverage. the handle itself is slightly thinner than I would have hoped, but up to now it has held up fine, worryingly the instructions seem to include what to do if this becomes bent.

the instructions say you can also crush steel cans (like the ones beans come in), but would NOT recommend this, it seems to require a lot of additional force, and I don't think the mechanism will hold out if you do this repeatedly

I have to agree with a previous reviewer (hippo) that this for the price is not as robust as first thought. I have fastened the unit to a brick wall using the fixings provided and still there is a tendency for the unit to flex and jump out of its runners when the plate is forced down by the handle. I would only recommend using it for plastic bottles or aluminium drinks cans as it states in the description - this unit cannot be used for anything heavier such as tinned goods cans. The manufacturer recommends you partially crush item before putting them in the unit. To be honest I have personally found it is easier to stand on things to flatten them than use this crusher. It needs deeper side runners so that the side plates cannot twist out when lowered and also a vertical up-stand on the front edge of the bottom and top plates to stop tins flying out the front. There is another crusher available from the same company modified because of feedback from their customers in the way I have described here.

We were making far too many trips to the recycling centre - carrying mostly air in empty cans and plastic bottles. Thanks to the plastic bottle and tin can crushers, we can look forward to cutting those trips to a third or less. Both make easy work of the crushing. Would be good if one device could do all. In the meantime, you really need the large one for plastic bottles and the smaller one for steel cans Heavy Duty wall mounted Can Crusher for tins and drink cans- which might be a challenge for your frail granny. But fix securely to the wall (the crusher, not your granny), follow the instructions, and off you go ...

Having bought a higher priced model I expected it to be more robust. It tends to bend towards one side regardless of which hand I use to operate it. Will not reccomend it.

Went for this rather than a cheaper crusher and glad I did. Reduces the volume of our recycling by at least a third. With drinks cans just put a slight dent in with your fingers and then be sure to place in one of the back corners (as opposed to the middle, where the cans tend to pop out from time to time) and you're away. Does even the largest soft drinks and milk bottles with ease.
