the catalogue of the most recent Botticelli exhibition 5 April 2004
By Leonard Hebert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
This is the catalogue of the most recent Botticelli exhibition in Paris and Florence. It comprises 6 essays by important Renaissance scholars and individual description of the works of art present in the exhibition. The reader is offered, therefore, a comprehensive and useful survey of Botticelli scholarship, sometimes with somewhat contrasting points of view. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in broadening their knowledge and understanding of Botticelli. I don't think, however, that it is a good introductory book to the artist, as it leaves out quite a lot of important works of art that were not present in the exhibition ("Primavera", "The Birth of Venus", "Mars and Venus", etc).

Reproductions 25 Sep 2005
By Wyatt K. Mccrea - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Good reproductions, enjoy looking at the book, although I haven't done much reading in it yet...I admit to ordering it for the reproductions! I wish color reproductions of the "Birth of Venus" and a couple of other works were included.
