The best feature of these snow socks is that they meant we'd had the best winter for years! They apparently keep snow away!
Seriously, they do work. They do exactly as claimed. They do not make STOPPING any safer, you just have to drive carefully, as you should in snow anyway. You're not going to be racing along in these, it's just not safe. However, what they will do is get you up hills, round corners, and home in snow.
They DO NOT WORK ON CLEAR/GRITTED ROADS, the instructions state this will shred them, and I for one was not willing to try this.
This means that they have to be taken off as soon as you reach a gritted road.
That brings me to putting them on and taking them off.
Putting them on is not _hard_ but it is tricky. It takes about 15 minutes of getting in and out of your car having made the wheels go round a half turn (that's the tricky bit!).
Taking them off IS HARD. They are designed to stay on while you're driving, so you can expect them to be hard to take off. It easily takes another 15 minutes, and you HAVE to wear gloves or your fingers will be very sore.
They will add half an hour to your journey, so they're not trivial. They are however essential. They will be in my car from November to April from now on. They don't take up much space and fit under a seat. You will only need them for the drive wheels. They will have no effect on the non-drive wheels, those wheels are there to stop the other end of your car scraping on the floor anyway.
I'd have given them 5* but for how hard they are to take on and off.
I would not only recommend them to a friend (I've recommended them to everybody I know), I would recommend them to a stranger.
