What I like about this album is the way MB manages to combine the classic sound of folk instruments, with variations on a theme. What theme though? He injects all sorts of interesting interludes into the tracks which sometimes makes you wonder exactly what you are listening to. That's the fun of it. I do believe that folk traditionalists may have a problem with the album. Those more experimental, will find it a breath of clean, fresh air. I did.

If you only buy one weirdy folk/celtic/dance/Scottish foot tappin' head spinnin' grinnin' like a cheshire cat album in your life, make it this one.

A Work Of Art 23 Jan 2007
By Thunder
Format:Audio CD
In the words of Martyn Bennett: "There is a dichotomy in this music; a gentle old tradition of the land and the sea against the neon technolodgy of our growing urban culture. The tunes are of an old style: Scottish, Irish, Swedish even Islamic. The beats and mixes are of a new style: Garage, Breakbeat, Trippy, Hip, Drum & Bass. I hope when you listen or dance to these tunes you get a sense of your own roots. If you push back the pressure of Urban development for a second you might remember where you came from. Go climb a countain and see."

A must buy album if you already are into Martyn Bennett.
