This is a brilliant morale booster of a video to watch for cricket fans. When England have just lost, or you've had a bad day at work, or your girlfriend has just left you; this is the thing to put on. It is pure magic. Writers of fiction couldn't come up with anything better. The ingredients are all there; Botham, after a disasterous spell as captain and out of form, looking to prove himself back in the ranks. Bob Willis, recovering from injury and fighting for his place in what many thought would be his last test match. Mike Brearly, coming back from retirement as skipper, like England's champion of old. England won the third test after following on, only the second time in history that a team has done that, the previous time was in the nineteenth century. Botham's second innings in that match, where he scored an unbeaten 149 whilst being ably supported by Graham Dilley (who scored his maiden first class fifty in this test match) Chris Old and Bob Willis, has been rightly descibed as 'pure village green stuff'. The fourth and fifth tests in their way, were just as spectacular. Richie Benaud and Ian Botham are there to guide us through a remarkable test series. By the way, the previous reviewer doesn't know what he is talking about, Merv Hughes was nowhere near the Aussie side at that time. Anyway this video is a must. The 1981 ashes series is one to be remembered for a long time,

Botham's Ashes 16 May 2004
Format:VHS Tape
Botham's Ashes recounts one of arguably the greatest sporting moments in British sporting History.

At the time, England allrounder Ian Botham was almost at his wits end, having struggled with form and the Captaincy.

The video starts with the 3rd test at Headingley, in the 1st innings where Botham scored a fifty, in the 2nd innings with the match seemingly lost, Botham produced one of the best innings of all time scoring 149 supported by Graham Dilley, it was almost Roy of the Rovers stuff.

Of course the match was wrapped up by Bob Willis's 8-43, where he bowled like a man possessed.

The whole video is superb, with Botham having a say in the next two matches his 6 wickets, snatching victory at Edgbaston and his superb hundred at Old Trafford!! I agree with a previous reviewer this is a video to put on if you have had a bad day when we actually beat the Aussies!! I would have to say that if my house was on fire, this is one of the first things I would save!! Superb from start to finish!!

The Miracle Maker 6 Jun 2005

Amazing stuff. If you read it in a book you'd never believe it.

It should be compulsory viewing in the Australian's national school's curriculum.
