Russian Pertwee? 23 April 2010
By Lemuel
Format:DVD
Not a bad movie, at first you sort of think supernatural, then you realise it's inbreed, high class nuttters, entertaining and the russian accents are a little mixed to say the least, but a fun, gory night in, however, not a zombie in sight, so don't expect any, russian mafia meets texas chainsaw massacre.

Wow! This film is genius. A crime thriller that turns into a comedy horror. Stephen Dorff is a professional thief who is trying to steal a priceless antique cross from the penthouse floor of a Moscow skyscraper. But all hell breaks loose when along with his bumbling sidekicks; he gets trapped on the 13th floor. He soon has to deal with insane hostages and some very nasty twin serial killers. Horror-comedies seem to be all the rage at the moment. Many are just plain bad, but this works extremely well. The mood of the film really has its tongue placed firmly in cheek. From the Brit actors doing abysmal Russian accents to the Benny Hill style chase scenes complete with Russian polka songs soundtrack. Unnecessary fart gags and some very over the top slapstick gore and splatter. This is pure and simple low-brow entertainment. I think it helps if you and a morbid sense of humour. Jamie Foreman steals the film with his violent psychopathic Russian gangster. With Jeff Bell performing a fine comic turn as the woefully incompetent Alpha Male security guard. The only thing I thought was a waste was the extremely sexy Jaime Murray has very little to do. Shame as she is such a fine actress. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Severance or Doghouse.

Not as expected. 5 Oct 2008
Format:DVD
This is my first review on Amazon & most likely my only. I felt compelled to warn people before purchasing this film. I bought this essentially on impulse after seeing it in the 'customers who bought this also bought:' section on here. The box art looked slick, the film having won awards and two positive quotes on the frontcover sold me on it. I was left disappointed. I was under the impression this was a horror-comedy but with only two actually funny parts in it and no scares im not convinced. With unlikable characters, a boring plot and a stupid choice of 'monster' i completely regret buying this film. Save your money or buy Severence, Feast or The cottage instead.
