Bourbon was born over 200 years ago in the hollows of Kentucky where the cold, clear limestone spring water flowed-water that made the grass blue, the horses frisky, the corn grow like crazy, and the whisky sweet and smooth as honey. Read the first page

This book really is the best guide to mixing cocktails on the market today.
Having been a bartender before checking out any books (in order to increase my repertoire of cocktails), I found it quite difficult to find any that I considered to give good instructions & accurate recipes - one had a recipe for a Cosmopolitan that actually included using blackcurrant & egg white in the drink!(Im not naming any names - u know who u are). Not so with this book...good precise instructions, comprehensive list of recipes, & every one I recognised, agreed with what I considered to be the way the drink should be! My only slight complaint is the fact that all the measures are given in 'fl oz' - fine if you're in the USA, but a bit of a pain if you're in the UK & are used to dealing in 'ml'.
But still by far the best book on cocktails around!

Superb 18 Aug 2001
Format:Hardcover
This book has everything you need on making cocktails. It tells you what all the measurements are from a dash to a jigger and gives you there values. It has lots of techniques such as layering, flaming and frosting glasses. It tells you what drinks, glasses and equipment you should have to satisfy most peoples tastes. It tells you just about everything, even how to open a bottle of wine! All this plus over 1,200 recipes for cocktails to get you well on the way to being a proper cocktail bar owner. The only downside I can see is that the party planner is some what brief. It basically suggests some occasions for having a party such as christmas or graduation and has 2 pages on how many drinks to serve depending on how many people. The author could have gona into a bit more detail but it dosent matter too much, I wasnt interested in this section.

Overall this is probably the best cocktail book there is!
