Saxophonist Ike Quebec weaves a spell of beauty alongside guitarist Kenny Burrell, Percussionist Willie Bobo and Garvin Masseaux on Chekere.

Recorded in 1962 this classic selection of laid back bossa and samba proved to be an epitaph for Quebec who died shortly after the recording. He plays with such warmth and sensitivity that perhaps he knew this was the culmination of his life in jazz.

It is a beautiful album which adds 3 tracks to the original release of 9 laid back classics with the rhythm section giving a masterclass in understated but solid suport.

For fans of Jazz or Latin or Brazil this is a must.

I bought this as a big Kenny Burrell fan,but have to say Ike,s sublime tenor sax playing is a absolute joy!
The rest of the ensemble set a very laid back beat which enables Ike & Kenny to really shine.
It is now one of my fave.albums. At this price it's a steal- go on treat yourself

I'd forgotten what a fine player Ike Quebec was. If you like excellent bluesey, intelligent and straight ahead blowing this is definitely worth adding to your collection. Great sidemen too.
