The sound quality of these headphones is excellent. However, the build quality of these is absolutely terrible. I received a pair for a present about three years ago and I have literally been through four or five pairs since. I cannot fault Bose, who offer excellent customer service and have replaced each pair for free.
The main problem seems to be the connection between the jack and the wire, as every pair I have had has started to cut out in the left ear after about ten months, progressing to the sound in that ear cutting out completely). Also, in earlier pairs I had the ear buds kept popping off and although Bose have refined the design recently, the buds still come off occasionally (which is infuriating... especially if you have to scurry around on the floor looking for them).
It is a shame as I really like the sound quality, comfort and level of service that Bose offer. However my fifth pair (changed at the Bose shop December 2008) have now started to cut out in the left ear (it is now October 2009) and bearing in mind that I do not subject them to adverse wear and tear, I find this pretty unnacceptable. I would recommend these if you only ever sit down and listen to music (as my father does), otherwise I would consider something else on the market.

Have had these head phones now for close to a year and the sound from them is awsome I use them in work and wear them most of the day everyday and they dont hurt your ear's like most headphones with this style will do after wearing them longer than a hour.
In saying that, if you where going to use these for the gym or something i dont know if they would stay in your ears that well, they are not a tight fitting head phone.
Going back to the build quality as stated in my title, its not great.. I find that some of the in-er wire is starting to show on mine and also the little grille in the ear piece it self has fallen out on the right head piece.. they still work fine but if i was using them when traveling or gym-ing etc i think you be lucky to get more than 6 months out of them..
I am still giving them 4 as the sound quality from them is as good as i have heard.. and lets face it you cant really rate a Bose product 3 star's because of build its all about the sound with Bose.

Bought a pair of used BOSE earphones, item was faulty, only one earphone working. Returned the item to Jon(seller) and was told that he doesn't offer refund, so the seller returned the item to me again. I am shocked that faulty items are even for sale in Amazon. Watch out for sellers like this, they give the internet trade a bad name. This purchase cost me money and Jons Fashion couldn't care less about customer service. I have reported this to Office of Fair Trading and are now looking in to it.

Bose in ear headphones
Darned good - better than any other in-ear earphones that we haev tried from very expensive to cheap these are the best and dont appear to break in 30 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!
