I have a fondness for Bosch appliances, partly because of their famous German reliability and partly because they usually do what they're built to do, very well. This model from the Avantixx washing machine range continues that tradition, feeling well made and being pretty easy to use, even for a novice like me.
The Avantixx machines are one down from Bosch's Exxcel range and two down from their Logixx range, so positioned at the lower-mid end of the spectrum, but don't think that this means that they're short on features. While the WAE24366 does lack certain things found on its bigger brothers like a dedicated temperature control, dark wash and sensitive clothes settings, it does have the features most of us will actually use, like hand wash, mixed load and delicates settings.
The mixed load is particularly useful, as many other manufacturers seem to think that people only ever wash certain clothes with clothes of the same type - the number of machines I've seen with `jeans', `shirts' or `lingerie' cycles and none for mixed loads is surprising. Bosch have also added a `SuperQuick 15' setting, a very handy 15-minute programme for lightly soiled clothes that incorporates a wash, two rinse cycles and faster rinse spinning - perfect for when you need a shirt or jeans in a rush.
There are also several additional options that you can tag on to the wash cycle, such as `SpeedPerfect' which reduces washing times by up to 60% (but almost certainly at the expense of energy consumption), and `EcoPerfect', which Bosch claim uses up to 30% less energy than the qualifying rate for energy efficiency Class `A' washers.Read more ›

I bought this product partly because I already had a Bosch Fridge which has never failed me since year 2003. Delivery in the UK by Reliant Direct was superb. The washer arrived in my home country on Good Friday. The WAE24366 is a 6kg washing machine, very heavy and easy to use. You don't need to have previous knowledge or be a technical person before you can fix/use the product.
The "SuperQuick 15" setting is what I normally use for slightly soiled and plain office shirts. Your cloths are ready within 15 minutes and they don't fade.
The "SpeedPerfect" option reduces washing times to up to 60% (approximately 1 hr) but certainly at the expense of energy consumption.
The "Eco Perfect" option which Bosch claims uses up to 30% less energy has a longer washing time (approximately 3hrs 45 minutes depending on the load).
The "Reduced Ironing" option which is supposed to keep clothing fluffy and tangled free works perfectly. You can even wear clothing without ironing if you choose this option.
The "Aqua Plus" option adds additional water to the cycle for better washing of heavy items like jeans, duvets and curtains. This option consumes more water than other options.
The Bosch Avantixx 6 VarioPerfect WAE24366 runs very quietly even at the highest spin speed of 1200rpm. Unlike my previous top load washer (different brand), this Bosch product has reduced my line drying time, leaves cloths clean and completely free of unused detergent stains.
The digital display shows you approximately how long the current cycle has to run.Read more ›
I decided to spend more than I have done in the past because my last washing machine was pretty poor and Bosch has such a good name. Its early days but I would say that overall I could have spent much less for the same results.
One reviewer said his washing came out being much quicker to dry and I was disappointed to find the results weren't much different than my old washer which was much cheaper. I can't say my loads are coming out any cleaner either. One other niggle is that the powder drawer doesn't seem removeable so if you accidentally spill powder in the conditioner space it cloggs up of course and is hard to clean out.
The best thing about this machine which almost makes it worth the money is the 15 min wash. It is a godsend in our house but be warned although clothes smell fresh and clean even the tiniest stain/mark will not be removed. Hopefully, the washer will live up to its reputation and be reliable for years to come.
