This iron fills from the bottom. Consequently if it is hot it spurts out steam when refilling. I think it is a h& S issue as your hand gets scalded from the steam. I can't recommend it at all.

Long flex wonderful as it makes ironing shirts and bedlinen very much easier as the flex has to go across a work surface in the kitchen. I do not like the rear filling, i.e. from the base rather than the front as it cannot be placed on a firm surface to fill. It needs two hands to fill, one to undo the closure at the back and pour the water in and the other to hold it. The latter I do not like.

A few years ago I purchased a steam iron that had the extra bonus of an extra soleplate, to use when ironing garments that would normally require a protective cloth to avoid shiny impressions on the garments when ironing pockets etc on dark trousers. I didn't realise the usefullness of this protective plate until I had one, & was devastated when my iron 'died' & they were no longer made. I trawled through every iron manufacture & was thrilled to find Bosch made such an item, which I bought thro' Amazon, & I am even more thrilled with the ease of using this product. The water filling position on the back is of no problem to me.I wonder why all steam irons don't come with this extra protective plate, as it makes garments look more proffessionally ironed.Hope I can still find this product in years to come.
