Had a couple of mediocre experiences with generator irons that stopped working. Took the plunge again when I saw this model at just under £100 in a supermarket special deal (half the department store price). So far (two months), so good. The steam pressure is good, filling up is easy, the iron is light, and if you invest in the additional soleplate (optional extra) then ironing delicate materials or items that would otherwise spoil or shine, e.g., suits, becomes easy - no need to use a cloth to protect the material. This extra is well worth it and Bosch sent one next day.
Others have criticised the stability of the iron on the docking plate (it's not great but perfectly functional), the fact that the iron is difficult to stand on its heel (true but just put the removable docking plate on the ironing board and rest the iron flat), and that the lid of the water container doesn't fit securely (also true but I haven't found it a problem). All minor quibbles, in my view.
This iron would be decent value at full price but at closing on £200 you are not far off the league of irons that might be thought of as semi-professional. If you can get it for under £100 I consider it a bargain.
Overall, very good and it seems to make ironing as good an experience as it can be!
