I keep it on 'eco' and it doesn't matter what I am ironing it is at the perfect temp. There is just the right amount of gentle steam constantly and oodles of gushing steam as and when I call for it. I do a lot of dressmaking and once I have turned the iron on I just leave it on until I have finished my sewing session - it goes to 'sleep' and comes back in as soon as I touch the handle and a few seconds later we are in business again - just like magic? At first I had it on the main steam-generating mode but found myself almost in a sauna and well steamed up windows - too much steam for my needs hence the move to the 'eco' mode which is absolutely perfect. The steam generator unit is incorporated inside the iron body as opposed to the usual type which has an external generator and water tank which has to sit close by you then you have to put up with the steam supply tube from the tank to the iron as well as the electric cable - very cumbersome and I wouldn't go back to that sort again. It can be left on the fabric of the ironing board and will not burn it. I keep a filling cup full of de-ironised/de-mineralised water close by on the window ledge so it's easy to top up as and when needed. Topping up is simple, just flip the cap open and top up at any time, but you need to have the iron standing at an angle so the water water trickles in via the back wall of the filling area - if the iron is standing flat I found the water runs out where the cap is hinged and gets air bubbles which stop the filling flow. Obviously it uses more water than other regular steam irons but that's because it is giving me a better supply of steam. I only use de-ironised/de-mineralised water which is easily available very cheaply in B&Q or Asda. I do not put any tap water in this iron. I suppose the internal generator probably adds to the weight of the iron but not to any extent that I have noticed. I would not swap this iron for any other!!

BOSCH Sensixx’x DI90 Motor Steam Anti Shine Iron
I am a great fan of Bosch appliances as they are well made and functional. The Bosch Senixx’x Iron is quite heavy and robust and I like the combination of silver, black and red colours which gives it a modern look. The technology this iron uses is very up to date.
It comes with a small jug and a very comprehensive instruction book that is clearly illustrated and in English only. The iron has a flexible cable that is approximately 3 metres long which gives me room for manoeuvring as I am ironing. It easily covers the length of my ironing board with room to spare.
Filling the iron with water is easy and the filler cap shuts with a click so I know it is closed. The soleplate of the iron is metal and ceramic and can be stiff to iron with but I soon got used to it. The weight actually helps to make closer contact to the fabric to give an even surface for the steam to penetrate. You are also advised to air your ironing to dry off.
The temperature control has a number of settings with an indicator light that flashes when heating up and stays constant when at the right heat. The settings include the usual fabrics and the AntiShine that helps reduce the marks on dark clothing. There is an eco and maximum setting for the steam on the handle which automatically sets to eco when first switching on.
A Sensor Steam function light flashes when the iron is not gripped so the steam function is at rest. It is on continuously when in use. I liked this as it is saving the water in the iron hence you don’t have to keep refilling.
I always start ironing delicate fabrics first then increase the temperature as I go along. It is advisable with this iron as it takes a while to cool down.

This really is an excellent iron.Firstly, it has a decent length of flex, which definitely bucks the trend of other home appliances I have tried over the last few years. Secondly, it's a good, solid weight which means the iron does most of the work of getting rid of creases and wrinkles. and finally, it does a really good job of ironing. Neither my wife nor I found it particularly noisy and I was surprised to discover that this was an issue with some people when I read other reviews. To use the i-temp feature, which means you don't have to keep changing the temperature setting when ironing different materials, you first have to go through each setting manually from silk to linen increasing the temperature as you change materials after which the iron should remember the different settings and you shouldn't need to ever do it again in future. Very clever. Overall, we're more than happy with this iron and it's already become our main one and I can't think of anything negative to say about it at all. Recommended.

Very disappointed with this iron. Too noisy due to motor, small water tank only lasts for one shirt at a time, water comes out of the steam holes when you press the steam boost button and constantly leaks brown water straining the clothes.

It is okay, but for the price I would not buy it again. I expected much better performance from such expensive iron. Ironing quality is excellent, fast ironing of my shirts - but consumes water like elephant - 1 fill per shirt is too much! You just need whole bucket of water to add for the weekly shirt ironing. Then something what I always hate is water spilling / spitting which eventually leaves your shirt half wet again. I had problem with previous irons about this. This tends to spit water in liters. Maybe this is some sensor which regulates moist amount depending on shirt creasing - but very inconvenient. Would not buy again, waste of money. Buy cheaper.
