Bosch Steam Iron 21 Mar 2011
I actually don't do the ironing my husband does, and I bought this iron for him as our last one broke. This is I am told is very nice it has a really nice smooth foot plate and although it felt quite heavy when I picked it up when you are ironong it is very light and has a nice big ironing surface. As I have bought many Bosch appliances and have been really pleased with them so I thought that I would try an iron or rather my husband would try a Bosch iron. This iron also has a no drip device which works really well and the steam is distributed evenly while you iron. All in all I would give it 10 out of 10.

    bosch iron 3 July 2011
    By con
Overall a good buy. I have no idea how economical it is as I am unable to isolate my electricity usage for the iron from everything else in my home but I expect that if they claim it is economical, then it is.
    Good points:
It irons very well - always important for an iron I think.
It's got a long enough lead that allows you to have it plugged in a little may from where I put the ironing board yet still reach the end of it.
The squirt and steam boost functions are good.
The water reservoir is a good size.
The soleplate seems good - no sticking yet.
    Not so good points:
It's supposed to have a non-drip function which stops it dripping if you have set the temperature too low for the steam but it still seems to do it (a bit) and also still seems to produce a little bit of steam even if you have it on the non-steam setting. It's not too much of a problem but is a little annoying. I don't know if this is just as good as it gets, or that there is a design fault or a fault in my iron. Anyway, it's not bad enough for me to be bothered to do anything about.
The water filling bit is quite narrow.
The water filling jug is small - certainly less than the capcity of the reservoir so if you want to fill it fully you will have to make 2 journeys to the tap.

    Don't buy this iron 6 Feb 2010
    By Fiona
I was trying to be environmentally aware when I bought this iron, but have been grossly disappointed.
I had to return the first one I bought as the heating element broke within 3 weeks of purchase, and I was able to touch the plate when the iron was switched on and turned to full heat.
Thinking I had been unlucky, I replaced the iron with an identical one, and it's not much better. Even the replacement doesn't seem to get as hot as the last iron I owned (Philips), and therefore I have to press harder and for longer. The water tank empties after steam ironing only 4 items (or 2 shirts), even on the lower setting. For a week's load of ironing with muddy children in the house, this means constant stopping to refill.
Ironing has become a chore again. Only reason I haven't returned it to the shop from where I purchased it is because I stupidly binned the packaging. This was an expensive iron and I regret the purchase. Please don't make the same mistake.
