Midyr gave a very poor feedback rating for the Bosch TDS2551GB but I must disagree with him/her. My wife and I are now on our third steam generator and have used them for many years, we are very experienced with them, and without a doubt this machine is the very best we have had. The built quality is superb, it's also very attractive to look at, it's the quietest iron we have had, and it's very easy to operate. We where surprised how easy it is to fill it's water tank in situ, and it lasts longer with less refills than our other generators. I would highly recommend this fantastic machine to anyone looking for a steam generator, do yourself a favour and buy a Bosch. fine for the first time use but the second time it produced water - not steam - the ironing finished up wetter than coming from the washing machine. Took a long time to get the steam dispensing properly and I was concerned over the amount of water going over the iron.
If this happens for the third time its going back! I called the Bosch UK customer help line and was told to return it to Amazon they would not offer any other support(great help) The packaging had been taken away by the bin men.
For a new steam generator only 6 days old its cost me £70 per ironing session.
Just hope it settles down!

Love this iron, wish I'd bought one years ago. I wondered if it would be awkward to use with the steam hose, but it is fine. Heats quickly, easy to hold down the steam button while using, irons shirts vertically on hangers, and even with an ironing board, barely need to touch the clothes. Whips through several layers of sewing fabric in one go. Refreshes jackets, so reduces dry cleaning. Haven't tried ironing curtains in situ yet - imagine it will take careful placement of the unit to reach to the top of curtains, especially as the hose gets hot. The whole unit is lightweight to handle, easy to put away. Needs more storage space than a standard steam iron. Needs a mesh ironing board. Unless you have a utility room to leave out all the time, best suits batch ironing. Have to wait and see how well it resists the hard water in my area.

This Bosch Steam Generator is a fantastic iron. First impressions are of great quality and good styling. It's well designed and looks smarter that the oval water tanks on some other models. Once in use, the quality of finish on your clothes is truely stunning. You will find that, unlike a regular iron which can leave a shiny surface on your clothes along the seams and hems, this steam generator, with more than enough power and steam, will leave your clothes feeling very crisp and fresh without creases - looking like new. You will also find that you have finished quicker than before as you only need to go over once! Vertical Steaming on the hanger is great too.

Pros: 1.Professionally Finished Clothes 2.Smoother Ironing 3.Lighter Iron 4.Removable Iron Pad 5.Reduced Ironing Times 6.Large Removable Water Tank 7.Powerful Steam Output (any more than 100g pressure is not necessary) 8.Auto Calc and Clean 9. Two Years Guarantee

Cons: Slow start up times;2 mins for iron and 5 mins for steam output. Requires thicker iron mattress; steam output can cause condensation under the ironing board resulting in drips and a wet floor! (also adjust steam stetting etc depending on the clothes).
Perhaps a spray nozzle? Perhaps ceramic plate, but its inoxx glisse stainless steel works perfectly.

Update after 6 months or so ...
Must regularly follow cleaning procedure and descaling, as hardwater and limescale build up can cause "spitting and staining". But I wonder whether this is the case with Brands ?

Bought this iron 3 weeks back.
I normally do the bulk of our ironing and that too usually on a Sunday.
Whilst it used to take an hour or so previously, it takes only half the time now.
More importantly, I can get a better result with cotton clothes, without using the starch spray.
I have had a Philips and a Morphy pressurised iron before and so I can confidently say that this Bosch product has easily been the best of the lot.

Well, what piece of high tech gadgetry has prompted this, my first online review of a product? Well as a serial consumer of reviews before I buy anything from a toothbrush to a car I've always felt that I've never really had anything else add to the reviews that are already out there. However, this product is different because it has sort of changed my life. Not in a big way but in a good and noticeable way...

OK let's start with the fact that I've probably been guilty of buying really rubbish irons all my life - probably without realising it - but even so this Bosch is in a completely different league to what I've had before.

What's prompted me to write this review is that most reviews says it cuts your ironing time in half... well that's probably true if you had a half decent iron to begin with but if you've had completely rubbish ones it cuts ironing time down to a quarter at least PLUS I now don't have to organise my washing around when I think I can iron. As 90% of what we own is 100% cotton with my old iron I always had to plan ahead to iron clothes in semi damp state. With this iron that's simply not the case ... they can be bone dry and the iron goes through them like melted butter. I think the reason why I used to hate ironing with a passion was despite my elaborate ritual of washing and ironing when damp the results were always quite frankly disappointing - not anymore. So the bottom line with this iron is I can wash clothes when I want and Iron them when I want and the end results look professional.

I did look at a couple of Tefal irons but a number of reviews said the steam button on the handle was sharp ... and the one on the Bosch is lovely and smooth and a joy to operate ....
