Believe it or not, my old Black and Decker hedgecutter lasted for 25 years and a lot of thought went into the purchase of this Bosch model. Now that I've got it I wish I had changed a long time ago as this really is the business. If you need a tool for trimming hedges, bushes and the like, this will tackle just about anything with ease.
It would get 5 stars no problem but for two points -
1. It is very heavy to hold and if you would need to use it for long periods and you don't have strong-ish arms, forget it.
2. The power cable is one piece and has no connecting socket near the tool itself so if you inadvertantly cut through it (as I have done a couple of times in the past with other machines) you have to strip down the hedgecutter to make a new connection. I can't understand why Bosch should design it like this other than to try and get people to go to Bosch dealers to get something like this fixed.
One final point - when the hedgecutter was delivered it arrived with the handle and motor part in a box but the blade was sticking out, albeit covered with a sheath. The result of this was that the delivery guy was carrying it by the blade and when I got it all out of the packaging the cutting blade was bent. I was going to send it back but managed to straighten it out with some gentle persuasion and it seems to have done it no harm. Not a smart way to package it though.
Despite these flaws I would have no hesitation recommending this tool.
