I've got a 80 meters of mixed hedge that is probably 100 years old and has been neglected. I used my old cheapo Black and Decker on it for a while and then I saw someone using one of these whilst I was out on a walk. I was just so impressed, it had never occurred to me that there might be so much difference between hedge trimmers. So I came home and bought one and it is probably one of the best things I have ever spent my money on. The main differences that I notice are that the gap between the teeth is much wider than on an cheaper machine and the motor must be more powerful because it will cut very large branches without any effort whatsoever.
Now I find that cutting the hedge takes literally half the time so I cannot recommend this too much.

I purchased the AHS 7000 to cut a very thick thorn hedge & it is almost perfect! It cuts thick branches no problem & because of the extra length blades I don`t have to risk life & limb stretching to do the far side! My only gripe is the weight of the item, it is quite heavy to hold for longer periods, although this is to be expected because on the longer blades & more powerful motor. Overall I highly recommend this item & would give it 5* in any review!

This is an excellent hedge trimmer, the lenghth of the blade and the sharp well spaced teeth means it takes half the time to cut the hedges.It also deals very well with thicker side branches up to 4 or 5 cms. It is very well balanced and has excellent safty features. The length also helps in getting stright edges of decorative hedges nicely in line. However, it is very sharp and due care needs to be taken. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a large number of thicker hedges to keep in shape.
