Product Description

Product Description

The Bosch PMF 250 CES

The PMF 250 CES is a highly versatile Power Tool suitable for most jobs around the home. It is ideal for applications such as replacing old carpet with laminate flooring, removing bathroom grouting, shortening a door frame or enabling access to a plug socket behind a living room cabinet. Make cuts with precision, even in the most remote corners of your home. The multifunction tool was designed to help you to work accurately, even in tight spaces.

The PMF 250 CES has a clear advantage over conventional power tools, especially in areas close to floors or walls. The power and precision allows for floor panels to be cut precisely or for insulation material to be flush cut in the attic. The PMF 250 CES is the only PMF fitted with an SDS system which allows for quick and easy accessory changes without the need for additional tools, it is also the only PMF that has Bosch Constant Electronic. This means that no matter what load on the unit the speed of the tool remains constant at all times.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Cutting in Soft Wood and Plastic (AIZ 32 EC)

You can make a variety of useful cuts with the plunge cut saw blades for soft wood and plastic. With this handy saw blade you can make cut-outs, for example, in door frames or in furniture to access wall outlets.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Cutting in tight spaces (ACZ 85 EB)

Short or long cuts, in the middle or at the very edge, the PMF 250 CES and the BIM Segment Saw Blade with depressed centre cuts areas that conventional machines only reach with extreme difficulty if at all. Parquet floors are cut flush in no time, protruding wood and new drainpipes will be cut to the right length quickly.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Scraping Residue or Adhesives (ATZ 52 SC)

The scraper blade can help you remove glue from surfaces, stubborn stickers, mortar and concrete remnants or even paint from glass.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Plunge cutting (AIZ 65 BB)

This accessory is the master of versatility. It is ideal for plunge-cutting soft/hard wood such as plaster board and sandwich materials whilst also good for non-hardened nails and screws as well as non-ferrous metals. The saw blade is perfect for cutting door frames to length, cutting wood with nails and cutting laminated panels.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Grout and Mortar Removal (AVZ 70 RT)

Ideal for routing joints on tiles as well as removing mortar or tile adhesive and joints in small corners. It is also suitable for epoxy/glass fibre reinforced plastic.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Sanding Plate and sheets (AVI 93)

Sand smooth surfaces on furniture, curves or even when working on bodywork. The high level of power, low vibration and the PMF’s light weight, you’ll find you can achieve impressive results without the need to apply a lot of pressure.

Accessory for PMF 250 CES
Depth Stop

The depth stop ensures precise cutting depths. It can be easily attached at the clipping neck on top of the segment saw blade series ACZ 85 and ACZ 100. As shown in the picture, depending on the adjustment of the depth stop, precise cuts in 4 steps between 8 mm and 14 mm with ACZ 85 blades and between 14 mm and 20 mm with ACZ 100 blades can be executed comfortably.

Oscillation: the Secret to the All Rounder’s Success

The technical secret behind the versatility of the PMF range is its oscillation principle: accessories do not have a circular motion, but rather oscillate at an angle of ±1.4 degrees - enabling most precise cutting, sanding and sawing.

This is a good piece of kit and i wish i had purchased it before i recently did major jobs on my kitchen and Bathroom etc... it really does allow for the completion of some tasks in hard to reach places where other tools just cant reach and is very versatile.

However the downside is the tools/bits that it comes with are really quite weak and yet very expensive to replace. I used the semi circular saw piece to cut along the length of just 2 pieces of laminate flooring and it was virtually blunted after with some of the teeth worn away after just one piece. I appreciate laminate flooring is tough stuff but i would expect better longevity. This was the case again when I used the plunge cutter on a small amount of laminate and it was rendered half blunt almost straight away.

This wouldn't be a problem if the bits are cheap to replace but they aren't with a replacement for the saw piece at least twelve pounds.

I will be looking for cheaper replacement bits than the genuine ones if I can find them. I think as long as you realise the tool could have high running costs its still a good bit of kit.

After moving house I found a variety of wall types when I went to replace old single mains sockets with new doubles, from standard dot/dab plasterboard with 25mm back boxes mounted on breeze blocks, to high density straw (Stramit) boards. I did a search on how best to cut out bigger openings and in some cases increase the depth to 35mm.

I'd not seen one of these multi-tools before so was a little sceptical, but took the plunge and bought one. So glad I did; it made light work of everything I needed to do. With care it produces a very accurate and clean cut, and with the variable speed capability allows finer control of the cut than you'd have thought possible for something that cuts so easily.

A few tips; cover EVERYTHING in the room with dust sheets and wear eye protection and a mask. These vibration cutting tools create a lot of fine dust. Check the walls for pipes and cables etc before cutting, as this thing will go through just about anything. Score the plaster around where you're cutting before you start to prevent the cutter taking off any more than you want.

Overall, thorougly recommended.

I have had this for a few months now and i have been extremely happy with this amazingly versatile tool.
This makes all jobs easier, quicker and causes less mess than most other individual tools would have done.

Having recently moved to new flat there were so many things that needed doing from installing new light or sockets putting in a suspended ceiling to laying new floors throughout and many other jobs.
This tool did all the jobs i wanted a Multi-tool to do with ease and simplicity. Its easy to change from one tool blade to another with just a few twists of the red lever at the top. Other Multi-tools require you to use an allen key or some other tool to change the blades which takes a little more time and you have the added problem of wondering were you put it down or used it last as im sure most DIY'ers will agree when doing jobs and putting a tool or something down and then spending time to look for it when you need it again like pencils or screw drivers.

This model is a little more expensive than the others from Bosch but its definitely worth the few extra quid.I was going to go for the cordless one but decided on this one with the cord as it gives you more power and it also has the quick change tool function. I would also say if you want a tool that will live up to the job and will last more than a few months or a year or so then buying a solid made one from a reputable company will be worth it as you have more reliability and performance.
There are so many varied blades and attachments you can buy for this tool and if you look around you can get some great deals on some sets which include the most used blades.

Delivery was prompt, and although this was not my first choice, on first inspection I was pleased with the solidness of the build. My first difficulty was mastering the keyless chuck. I got the hang of it and began using the tool, unfortunately within 20 minutes of using it, the keyless chuck has failed-it only holds the tool piece for a few seconds and then releases it. I reloaded the tool piece as directed but it just keeps falling out after a few seconds use! I watched the tool after yet again reloading the tool piece and observed the centre pin vibrating loose. Just how this is happening I cannot fathom as the centre pin is threaded? Another annoying design problem is the jamming of the sds lever for the chuck release. Dust seems to clog the mechanism and prevents its normal operation by thumb and I have to use the heel of my hand and knock it free of it's location. Hmmm hopefully I will get a refund and get a FEIN

I purchased this tool based on the Bosch vidio showning the unit efficiently and quickly removing grout from between ceramic tiles, but in reality it is a far more difficult task and took much longer than expected. I would say that the vidio is very misleading.
In addition the unit broke down after a couple of hours, but thanks to Amazon was replaced the next day enabling me to complete the task.
The keyless method of changing tools works, but takes a lot of effort to unlock
It also lacks an efficient dust extraction system.
If I have to undertake this type of work again, I'd look for an alternative tool.
