... be aware that it is cheaper than the Isio 'shape & edge' because it only comes with one tool - the edging tool. I bought the 'shape & edge' - it comes with both tools. Here's my review with the 'shape' tool omitted:

The edging blade attachment is not just for edging the lawn - I used to hate trimming round the trees on our lawn. I used to hold the grass in one hand, shears between my knees & cut one-handed - a pain in the neck. Now I just walk around the tree - it takes three seconds.

The edging blade is an accident waiting to happen - it is far sharper than I had expected. I reckon it'd take your fingertip off without any difficulty. That's not a problem.

There are (apparently) two versions of the Isio - one with silver blades, and one with black & silver blades. The former appears to be an older model and is cheaper (well, on Amazon it is currently more expensive, but it is cheaper elsewhere).

There is a long handle accessory, for using the edging blade without having to kneel. It works with the old and new models. I nearly bought it but am pleased I didn't - I'm young and have no problem using the Isio while kneeling. If your garden is large or if you are elderly you might want to buy the handle. If in doubt, I suggest you don't buy it and see how you go.

Battery: the instructions state that it takes 5 hours to charge, and will run for 40 minutes.

One thing I like - I'd finished, packed up & then noticed a bit I'd missed. You don't need to get the extension lead out again - just grab the Isio & trim. I found myself looking for things to trim.

OK, kids, time for a haircut!

Edit, 16/6/12: I bought this with both tools - the Shape & the Edge tools - because I needed the Shape tool (essentially a small hedge cutter) to trim fresh growth off spherical Box plants. As for the Edge tool, I find it useful too BUT when I've used it to try to edge my lawn, I find it's not very good because lawn edges can be physically tough to cut, e.g. clumps of grass exiting a root system right on the edge of your lawn (they take effort to cut).

So, whether or not you'll find the Isio Edge tool useful depends what you want it for. If like me you want it to do jobs that require little physical effort and are awkward to do, like trimming wispy bits of grass around trees on your lawn, it's great. But if you want it for anything that requires a decent amount of effort, I reckon you won't be happy. Maybe this just reflects the fact that our lawn contains some coarse grass - if you have a fine lawn which is physically easy to trim, you should be happy.

This machine isn't designed to create a lot of power or leverage. It's designed for physically easy cutting that happens to be awkward, and for trimming one-handed.

I bought this to replace one I used to own a few years ago. I loved the old one but this is a great improvement as it is so much lighter. The charging is quick and it lasts for ages. Makes tidying up round the lawn edges a piece of cake, and it is great for cutting long grass growing where you just can't get a lawn mower. It is so light and easy to use one handed that you can accurately control where you are cutting and so avoid catching shrubs and newly planted trees and saplings. Would recommend it to anyone!

The edging shears are easy to use. They cut cleanly and cut a strip of grass wide enough, so when you use your mower, you don't need to run it along the fence. A full charge has allowed me about 45 minutes of continuous trimming. This is a GREAT GADGET!!!!!!!!!!

... if you can prise it from my dead fingers! I have a lawn which is bordered by white walls - strimming the edges leaves a green smear all along them, and doesn't make for a very precise cut, so I'd been reduced to doing the job with scissors which took at least half an hour and frankly was a pain. Having bought the Isio this job now takes 5 to 10 minutes and is actually fun - like a previous reviewer, I'm actually looking for things to clip now (even the cat's sweating a little!). The build quality feels good, as only the Germans / Swiss can seem to manage, although I guess only time will tell re. the battery life - initial feelings are very positive though. Ordered through Amazon who delivered it very promptly.

Needed something light and easy to transport and use for trimming grass around a headstone at the local churchyard that my wife could use. These are really good, compact and more powerful than I thought they would be. Reccommend them to anyone who cannot use standard shears easily.

A very useful tool. Light and easy to use and trims hedges well.Should be made clear that only one blade was included in this item. I bought the other blade separatelyBosch Isio Cordless Shrub Shear, which would have been cheaper if i had been able to find the issue that provided both.Never the less, an excellent tool, very good for trimming heathers.

Attractive product that will do a neat job on a small lawn, but after 20 minutes of normal usage (cutting lawn edges) the blades on mine became totally blunt and would no longer cut grass. Avoid unless you have a small, manicured lawn.

I had an Amazon voucher and my Bosch Art electric strimmer had broken so I thought I'd give the Isio a try based on the reviews I had read. I was still a little sceptical though. I bought the hedge trimmer attachment Shrub Shear Blade for Bosch Isio separately as it worked out cheaper than buying the full set. It arrives partly charged so it only took about 90 minutes to get it up to 100%. I've only used it once and will still have to refine my technique but it did a really good job around the edge of my front lawn which has a perimeter of about 18 meters. I also did a 10m edging on the back lawn and a 2 minutes of general trimming against trees, etc. All in all about 8 minutes. That's nearly as long it used to take me to unwind and rewind the strimmer cable previously! Because it is so small it doesn't look like value for money but I'm sure I will get a lot of use out of the Isio and it will become a big favourite. I have the Bosch AHS Lithium hedge trimmers too - also a very good product despite the high(ish) price.BOSCH AHS 52 LI 18v Cordless Electric Hedge Trimmer

Really pleased, good speed on delivery, find it very good on trimming edges of lawn, great time saver, easy to use, one thing to look out for is small stones, although it is facing away from you i did hit a small stone sending it flying and hitting fence at a great speed, so take care, you must make up your mind when you want to use as you have to remember to charge it up
but that is no problem. overall i am well pleased.

This is a very useful trimmer. When you first use it you think that it is underpowered - because it is so quiet. It is strong enough to deal with the grass at the edge of my lawn, even where it is growing quite thickly. It is especially useful near walls, where the string on my old strimmer used to break frequently.

I use it with the extension handle although sometimes it doesn't wheel as well as I would like. If my lawn was flatter it might work better!

I don't have another head for it - it would be useful to have a wider one so that this gadget could be used instead of a strimmer.
