I'm no major DIYer so have only used mine intermittently over the last three to four years. Recently, I found the drill would not rotate. I suspected the battery was worn out and bought a replacement for £50 only to find that it was the drill that was at fault. As with the other reviews here, the motor magnets seemed to have come loose and jammed.
Very disappointed and will think twice now about Bosch products. I'm going Japanese from now on!

    **** UPDATE ****
I contacted Bosch and pointed out the number of motor failures reported for this drill. Bosch then picked it up from my work, repaired it and returned it, all free of charge even though it's at least three years old! Thank you Bosch.

I phoned Bosch on the Friday Tel:01895 838782, they collected my drill by courier on the Monday and returned it on the Wednesday with a new motor fitted. I included the following covering letter, and they didn't charge me a penny for the motor, labour or transport. Next time I'll be buying Bosch!

Item: Bosch PSB 24 VE-2 Cordless Drill.

    Dear Sir,

I am an enthusiastic DIY'er, and a loyal Bosch customer as I also have a Bosch PBH2200RE SDS Plus Drill, a PMF180e Multi-tool, an AXT 25D garden shredder, and a Rotak 43 mower. I, like anyone who pays extra to buy Bosch over lesser brands, believe they are paying for a well made tool that if looked after will provide many years of reliable service, and expound the virtues of paying extra for your brand to all my friends and colleagues, so I was disappointed when my cordless drill stopped after 1 year & 8 months of weekend use.

While searching for a replacement drill on Amazon I found 23 customer reviews average 2.5/5 stars. Most of them saying how their drill was powerful and well made if not a little heavy, but had packed up due to the motor jamming within a year or 2. It would seem there is a common fault of the motor magnets breaking or coming loose. The gentleman below who's sentiment I share, said he returned his and you repaired it free of charge.

`This drill was great when it worked. Powerful enough to tackle almost any job and as a result I used it in preference to my mains drill. I don't think it is unduly heavy and with the addition of an extra battery you can use it all day long without interruption.

After approx 3 years of medium use the motor jammed. Magnet had come loose. Not the quality I would expect from Bosch.

Two years down the line and it has shaken itself apart - the magnets in the motor have simply come away from the body and have jammed it solid. I have an 18 year old Bosch mains drill which is still going strong - they don't make em like they used to!

A versatile drill with loads of torque and a good battery, but heavy to use. Main problem is after 2.5 years the motor packed up. Post mortem indicates that a magnet came loose and jammed it up. Not really good enough.

This is a great drill. Powerful enough to tackle almost any job and as a result I used in preference to my mains drill. I don't think it is unduly heavy and with the addition of an extra battery (affordable on ebay)you can use it all day long without interuption.

Unfortunately, like many other customers my drill has packed in after just over 2 years of moderate use (just after the warranty expired). Like many others, jammed motor! Having spent almost £200 including buying a couple of replacement batteries I don't think this is good enough. I have been in touch with Bosch Repairs and will wait to see what they do.

UPDATE: Bosch collected my faulty drill by courier for assessment/repair. A few days later I received a brand new drill, with a 3 month warranty, free of charge. Well done Bosch!

Fantastic drill, so you can imagine my disappointment when the motor went after years. That said, 1 quick call to Bosch, they collected it from me the next day, and two days later returned it with a new motor fitted- all free of charge. With service like that, a slightly unreliable motor should not dissuade you in getting this drill.

My brother brought this drill in a sale 3 years ago. It comes with a 24V battery back (1.5Amp). Although it is not used very often, it has generally performed well, it's a shame it didn't come with a 2nd battery, but with a 1hr charge you are soon back to work (Green Bosch tools are designed for the home DIYer, and many don't come with that quick a charger, expect between 3-5hrs normally). The charger can be used to recharge other Bosch batteries with fast speed intelligent charger. It is a heavy drill with that 24V pack so not recommended for regular use. Reading the other comments I believe it may now be experiencing some problems as the clutch makes a slipping noise when in use. According to the description this was introduced in 2000, but looking at the other views another updated model can be seen? I'm sure this has a two speed gear box as well.
