The PSR 10.8 LI-2 has a number of useful features
The PSR 10.8 LI-2 has a number of useful features. Click here for a larger image.

The Bosch PSR 10.8 LI-2 cordless drill/driver is a small, lightweight, powerful tool perfect for screwdriving and drilling tasks around the house. The 10.8 LI 2 is ideal for driving in and loosening screws as well as for drilling in wood and metal. The compact and handy design allows for convenient and versatile operation. It has approximately 25% less weight and less size compared to conventional drill/drivers thanks to lithium-ion technology and compact design. Plus, Bosch li-ion products come with electronic cell protection (ECP), which protects the battery against overheating, overloading and deep discharge and therefore guarantees a long lifetime of the battery. A PSR cordless screwdriver is recommended for longer overhead applications and larger diameters. Whether it be reconstruction work, repairs on a wooden patio or summerhouse, or renovation work and repairs on fences in the garden, the range of applications is (virtually) unlimited. For optimal storage use the charging station.

Setting Ring

The Bosch PSR 10.8 LI-2 comes with 20 pre-selectable torque settings for perfect control for optimal power for every application. A large setting ring allows easy switching of the settings. With the correct setting, the screwdriver bit is stopped automatically as soon as the preset torque (tightness) is reached. There’s a great benefit from its high performance of drilling 20 mm holes in wood with up to 6 mm screws.

Keyless Chuck and Auto -Lock

The keyless chuck allows tool-free easy changing of screwdriver and drill bits. The bits click audibly into place, ensuring a secure fit. When the on/off switch is not pressed, the drill spindle and thus the tool holder are locked. This enables screws to be screwed in, even when the battery is empty and allows the machine to be used as a screwdriver. The integrated Bosch Auto-Lock ensures that the machine locks the drill spindle at standstill, making it easy and convenient to open the keyless chuck.

Optimal Choice--High Performance Planetary Gears

The PSR 10.8 LI-2 comes with a 2-speed high performance planetary gearbox with a maximum no-load speed of 350 rpm (first gear) or 1,100 rpm (2nd gear). The high power in the first gear at low speed and high speed in the 2nd gear, ensures superior lifetime, best power transfer and high running smoothness.

Power Control--Intelligent Bosch Electronic

The run-out brake stops the 10.8 volt motor in the shortest time possible, meaning no after-run. This is ideal for driving rows of screws, as you can work without interruption up to 250 screws with one fully charged battery. The Bosch Electronic allows speed control using the trigger switch with acceleration from 0-max. This allows for smooth pilot drilling followed by rapid drilling at full speed.

Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)

In addition to the superior advantages of li-ion technology, today’s li-ion cells need to be protected against their three major ‘life-time-killers’:

Overheating: The electronics intervene and shut down the tool before the battery heats up excessively.

Overload: The tool is shut down if the battery pack is put under excessive load

Deep Discharge: Bosch ECP ensures that the battery is not deeply discharged, therefore protecting it against irreparable damage.

Other Features

The forward/reverse indicator means that users are able to screw in both directions. The green direction LED shows whether the screwdriver is in forward or reverse mode when screw driving. The integrated PowerLight is a built-in LED which means the work piece is always well lit and clearly visible. The battery charge-control indicator consists of three green LEDs, and indicates the charge condition of the battery for a few seconds when the on/off switch is pressed halfway or fully. The PSR 10.8 LI-2 also comes with Softgrip for a better and more comfortable hold.

Lithium-Ion Technology

The lithium-ion technology means that the tool is always ready to use.

 Powered by lithium ion technology
The Advantages of Lithium-Ion Technology

Tools with lithium-ion technology are ready for use practically all of the time. Regardless of whether the battery is fully charged, partially charged, or flat, you can put it in the charging station without having to worry about self-discharge or memory effect.

Because of lithium ion technology, Bosch li-ion power tools have power that is available six times longer than tools with conventional NiCad batteries
Small Tools, Big Progress--Simply Remarkable

Bosch lithium-ion cordless tools like the PSR 10.8 LI-2 are ready for use quickly. Even after a period of 4 months on standby, a fully charged lithium-ion battery is still charged to approximately 85 per cent. This means that Bosch Power is available to you for six times longer than that of conventional NiCd batteries.

 Bosch lithium-Ion technology
Full Power at all Times

No self-discharge, no memory effect: constant battery capacity over the entire lifetime. Always ready when you are thanks to lithium-Ion technology.

Bosch lithium-Ion technology
Same Battery Power at Half the Size

Due to the lithium-ion technology, the size and weight of the batteries are reduced by approximately 60 per cent compared to conventional nickel cadmium batteries--although they offer the same amount of power.

 Bosch lithium-Ion technology
Batteries That Can Withstand the Elements

The intelligent electronic cell protection, Bosch ECP, protects the lithium-ion batteries against excessive temperatures and overload, therefore giving them a particularly long lifetime.

Bosch lithium-Ion technology
High Power, Low Weight

Bosch cordless tools with lithium-ion technology impress with their very compact design, low weight and very good ease of use. This saves you a lot of effort when doing those DIY jobs.

Just to highlight that if you are thinking of buying this drill and comparing prices, be sure you are comparing the exact same drill, as I have discovered there are in fact FOUR different versions of this drill, each of which have a slight variation in features.

I bought this one thinking it was the two-speed model with the impact drilling feature, but it's NOT. I unfortunately did not spot a very subtle variation in Bosch's model numbers and thought this one was a real bargain for the quoted Amazon price! The ones with the impact drilling feature are the PSB models (this is a PSR). In fact it appears there are in fact four different versions of the Bosch 10.8V drill/drivers. They look almost identical, but here's the differences:

PSR 10,8 LI: Similar to this one, but does not have the two-speed selector switch and does not include impact drilling (hammer drill) setting.
PSR 10,8 LI-2: The one for sale on this page. Two speed settings but does NOT include impact drilling (hammer drill) setting.

PSB 10,8 LI: Similar to this one,but does not have the two-speed selector switch; but DOES include impact drilling hammer drill) setting.
PSB 10,8 LI-2: Similar to this one, but as well as having the two-speed selector switch; also includes impact drilling (hammer drill) setting.

The PSB models are therefore typically at least £20 more expensive than the PSR models. Wish I'd realised this before purchasing, and must say I think that Bosch's model numbers should be much more different for such variations, and also think the product descriptions (at Bosch and on Amazon) should make the differences between the different models much more obvious.

I hope my explanation will prevent other customers from making the same mistake as me.

Was thinking about either this or a bog standard 18v hammer drill/driver for simple DIY jobs around the house. Was a little sceptical at first but dont let the small size fool you because this thing is a beast!

The battery last for ages and fast charges in as little as an hour, because it uses ECP technology you can safely leave it on charge overnight without worrying about damaging it like i have countless times with cheap nicad types in the past. Another big bonus for someone who hardly does DIY is that it keeps its charge for well over a year if need be.

I've drilled through sheet metal, thick plywood and concrete with little effort, funnily enough without a single recharge! in fact i did all my kitchen units and a few shelves before the indicator turned red. The cool thing with l-Ion tools is that they dont fad over time meaning consistent output until the last few seconds worth of juice from the battery.

Its a little expensive and you dont get much more then a carrycase but it oozes quality and will probably last you a very long time.

This is a brilliant little drill... but it is also an expensive little drill, and that is what makes it hard to recommend.

The 2 main selling points for this drill are that it is:
    1. Small (17cm long, 6cm wide, 17.5cm high - incl. battery),
    2. Light (just under 1kg),
And they are great selling points as it just makes the tool easier to use for a variety of jobs. But if those qualities aren't so important to you, then this tool is simply overpriced compared to the other drills out there.

This tool fills a rather small niche. I think of it more as a mini drill and electric screwdriver combined into one. But if you'd be happy having 2 separate tools, then you could get a more powerful&cheaper drill, that would do the same job (or better), and a smaller&lighter electric screwdriver - giving you the best of both worlds, for a similar price. The only 2 scenarios where I can really recommend this drill over those 2 separate tools, would be where you want to do a lot of drilling in enclosed spaces (where a big drill or weedy electric screwdriver wouldn't be practical), or if you don't want to lug a big, heavy drill around with you all the time!

So in the end it all boils down to whether the extra cost of this tool is worth it to you for those benefits.
As for the tool itself, it does a great job and I can't fault it in any way... just that price! But if you can appreciate the small size and weight, this could be perfect for you.

I bought this drill a few weeks ago and paid 130 euros for it in the Netherlands - seemed a lot at the time for a non dewalt/makita but it's been a great investment - has saved so much time. It's a tiny little, light, accurate and seriously powerful drill. I've been drilling and screwing timber and kitchen units all day and can carry this little drill in a pocket; it fits in tiny spaces where you'd usually have to resort to a short manual screwdriver. I used to use a Dewalt angle drill for similar purposes, but it was a lot more expensive, much heavier, and awkward to grip and get good pressure onto the screw.
The Bosch is extremely ergonomic and painless to use, the tactile rubbery handle providing good grip. The LED light is handy. The hard plastic case is reasonably solid and you can close the lid easily (unlike some other Bosch tools I own). I rarely get so excited about power tools - I have a huge collection but few that are so thoroughly well designed.
