Got this a couple of days ago now, it boils super fast, the 70 degree/80 degree/90 degree/100 degree temperature setting is perfect for someone like me who likes their fresh coffee out of a cafetiere and enjoys the odd herbal tea as both get 'burnt' by fully boiling hot water.

Looks wise it is the part, feels solid quality build and really handy for those with young kids is that the outside of it does not seem to get warm never mind hot even when full up with hot water. The lid mechanism seems well designed and feels well made, the base is also of excellent quality and even the gimmick of it bleeping when your water reaches your desired temperature is quite endearing rather than irritating. Everything about this kettle is just spot on.

I would usually look at spending around 35 quid on a new water boiler but i am so glad i spent another 15 pounds on this model for what was a very reasonable £49.99 when compared to Curry's n John Lewis who are knockin it out at a penny shy of 70 pounds.

Don't want to rave about it too much because firstly i've only had it a couple days and secondly...well yep it is still only a kettle but Bosch have got this piece of kitchen kit bang on the money and everything about it oozes class n quality. You could do far worse spending less on an inferior product but you would also be doing far worse spending more on a supposed superior product.

Bottom line is if you need a new kettle and you are willing to spend a bullseye on it then this is without a doubt the one to get!

This kettle is excellent value for money. How neat and smart it looks. When you press the on switch, which is sensibly located on it's base, it bleaps. If you set it at a temperature of 70-100c (which is useful for making coffee) it bleeps when the temperature is reached. If you're not going to use it straight away you can put it on "keep warm". How useful. The lid is easy to open with a sensible centre button on the lid, ang the fill scale is easy to read. We havn't had it long, but I can't see that it's going to give any trouble. Well recommended.

UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW (20 MARCH 2013) The kettle developed a rattling noise which came from under the kettle base where the heating element is fitted. Amazon advised contact with Bosch who wanted it returned to be checked by their engineer, which would mean that we needed to buy a replacement or make do for an unspecified time. Amazon had advised that if we needed further help to contact them again. We did and within a short time we had return labels to Amazon, and confirmation of a next day replacement. Amazon's service was remarkable. The kettle is still a good machine in my mind, but due to it's possible safety failings, and the support by Bosch I've replaced my original 5 stars to 3. Good design let down by Quality and service from Bosch.

FURTHER UPDATE 06 NOVEMBER 2013.
EXACTLY THE SAME FAULT HAS DEVELOPED ON THE REPLACEMENT. WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE. CALL IT A DAY AND BUY FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER.
NOW ONLY 1 STAR. CAN'T GIVE IT LESS.

I was a bit dubious about buying a relatively expensive kettle when one can be picked up in the supermarket for only a few quid! However I do value quality and will normally buy premium branded stuff as generally speaking it does the job better, last longer, and is just nicer to use.

This bosch kettle fits in nicely with my white gloss kitchen and brushed stainless steel appliances. The base is square and goes up against the wall with cable coming out either side or back if you prefer. It has rubber feet to hold it in place and the cable can be wound into the base if you plug it in right next to the socket.

I must confess to being a victim of the dodgy opening lid that many reviewers note. I actually sent one kettle back for replacement before really looking at the issue and seeing what the problem is. The lid opens by pressing a big button in the middle of the lid on top. So you have to press the button down into the lid before the lid will pop up. The lid will only release when the button is about half depressed, so by quickly hitting the button and fully depressing it then releasing it just as quickly, the lid doesn't have enough force to lift against your finger, therefore the catch re-engages before it has lifted! By being a bit gentler and slower with the button pressing it enables the lid to lift before your finger is fully off the button. Also I think the issue is a little worse after the kettle has boiled possibly because the steam leaves moisture around the lid seal thus slightly increasing the time it take for the lid to lift enough for the catch to be clear. I'm guessing you're thinking I'm a bit strange but honestly, this isn't as silly as it sounds. Don't be so quick and rough with it and it works a treat! This will also make it last a lot longer.

A highly recomended kettle ., I have to say apart from it's ease of filling (the lid opens wide) The speed of boiling, The added "Beeps" when the kettle is switched on and when it's boiled.. The keep warm function to save energy. It looks beautiful too. What more can I say.. 10 stars.
