Got this a couple of days ago now, it boils super fast, the 70 degree/80 degree/90 degree/100 degree temperature setting is perfect for someone like me who likes their fresh coffee out of a cafetiere and enjoys the odd herbal tea as both get 'burnt' by fully boiling hot water.

Looks wise it is the part, feels solid quality build and really handy for those with young kids is that the outside of it does not seem to get warm never mind hot even when full up with hot water. The lid mechanism seems well designed and feels well made, the base is also of excellent quality and even the gimmick of it bleeping when your water reaches your desired temperature is quite endearing rather than irritating. Everything about this kettle is just spot on.

I would usually look at spending around 35 quid on a new water boiler but i am so glad i spent another 15 pounds on this model for what was a very reasonable £49.99 when compared to Curry's n John Lewis who are knockin it out at a penny shy of 70 pounds.

Don't want to rave about it too much because firstly i've only had it a couple days and secondly...well yep it is still only a kettle but Bosch have got this piece of kitchen kit bang on the money and everything about it oozes class n quality. You could do far worse spending less on an inferior product but you would also be doing far worse spending more on a supposed superior product.

Bottom line is if you need a new kettle and you are willing to spend a bullseye on it then this is without a doubt the one to get!

This kettle is excellent value for money. How neat and smart it looks. When you press the on switch, which is sensibly located on it's base, it bleaps. If you set it at a temperature of 70-100c (which is useful for making coffee) it bleeps when the temperature is reached. If you're not going to use it straight away you can put it on "keep warm". How useful. The lid is easy to open with a sensible centre button on the lid, ang the fill scale is easy to read. We havn't had it long, but I can't see that it's going to give any trouble. Well recommended.

UPDATE ON THIS REVIEW (20 MARCH 2013) The kettle developed a rattling noise which came from under the kettle base where the heating element is fitted. Amazon advised contact with Bosch who wanted it returned to be checked by their engineer, which would mean that we needed to buy a replacement or make do for an unspecified time. Amazon had advised that if we needed further help to contact them again. We did and within a short time we had return labels to Amazon, and confirmation of a next day replacement. Amazon's service was remarkable. The kettle is still a good machine in my mind, but due to it's possible safety failings, and the support by Bosch I've replaced my original 5 stars to 3. Good design let down by Quality and service from Bosch.

FURTHER UPDATE 06 NOVEMBER 2013.
EXACTLY THE SAME FAULT HAS DEVELOPED ON THE REPLACEMENT. WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE. CALL IT A DAY AND BUY FROM A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER.
NOW ONLY 1 STAR. CAN'T GIVE IT LESS.

Saw a few negatives about the ready tone and size on the counter and was unsure but went ahead with the purchase anyway, it is not as loud as I thought it was going to be and actually takes up less room than my old kettle base because of the base shape, much neater on the counter than a round base!
It pour's very well no drips. I think with most things it is a personal choice regarding the negatives but I am extremely happy with this product and would buy again and recommend it to others.

A highly recomended kettle ., I have to say apart from it's ease of filling (the lid opens wide) The speed of boiling, The added "Beeps" when the kettle is switched on and when it's boiled.. The keep warm function to save energy. It looks beautiful too. What more can I say.. 10 stars.

OK so it's only a kettle.......but what a kettle! It boils sooo fast and beeps when it's boiled (it also beeps when you switch it on which was a tad annoying to begin with, but you get used to it). You can also choose what temperature you want it to boil the water at, 70, 80, 90 or 100 degrees. (It also has a keep warm button, which I will admit I haven't had need to use yet).

The concealed element means you can boil just a small amount of water (1 cup) without worrying about it cutting out on you.

Also with most kettles they are designed for right handed users, but with this one because it has the Bosch logo on the front and back you can have the handle on the left without it looking like your kettle is back to front!

Be warned though it is much bigger than it looks - the base unit is 200mm deep and 175mm wide, and when the kettle is on the base unit the total height is 265mm so if you're short on space this might not be the best choice for you.

And on top of everything else it is the most sexy looking kettle you'll ever have on your kitchen worktop!

I was looking for a kettle that had a variable temperature setting for specialist teas/coffee and there were only two in the competition for my money, this and the Cusinart model. Ultimately it boiled down to the cost differential, which meant that the Bosch edged it, as both seem to have garnered equally good reviews both here and in Which testing.

On first sight the main thing to strike you is the sheer size of the beastie, it was replacing a John Lewis 1.5l model and despite it having the same capacity it positively dwarfs it in comparison. Aesthetically it really is quite striking and even takes into account us lefties, with the same styling evident whether mounted left, or right, handed on the base station. If I have any criticism it would be that the buttons on the base station feel a little cheap and the audible beep when turning on is a little annoying, but these are very minor gripes. The other concern I have is whether the white plastic cladding on the outside of the kettle and base station will discolour with age, but then only time will tell on this front.

Boil time is fast taking approx 2.5 mins on full capacity and is not unduly noisy as some have suggested in earlier reviews. The rubberised handle is a nice feature and the lid has so far been trouble-free, with no sticking evident. There are 4 temperature settings of 70,80,90 and 100 degrees C with a keep warm facility that works for a maximum 30 minutes before cutting out. Filling is a breeze with the lid fully opening to reveal the large cavity within by a touch of the central release button on the lid, alternatively you can fill via the spout without opening it up.
