As a previously devout 'bagless vacuum' addict and specifically Dysons, I was slightly dubious about buying this Bosch. I needn't have been, it is much better than any Dyson I have used. Minor moans, some of the tools come in a separate case and one of the two main brushes is loose? It is a pain carting these around especially when you need both hands to move the vacuum itself. There is a smell from the bag after the first couple of uses, that said its nothing of great note. The cord retraction system requires that it is pulled fully out of the case before it retracts, again a slight pain. All that said, it cleans like no other vacuum we have ever owned and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Having used Meile's for many years - the Bosch is by far superior, it is more powerful and easier to manouvre - definately would recommend if you have pets.

I have been very impressed with my recent purchase, the Bosch BSG8PRO1GB Cylinder vacuum cleaner.
It has brilliant suction for my wooden floors and the attachments are of good quality. I did think the vacuum cleaner was going to be smaller than it was but that doesn't matter. I have a Dyson Cylinder too for my other flat and think this Bosch has more suction, it just doesn't fold away like the Dyson.

After all the rotten hoovers that I have owned, this bosch is fabulos, the suction on it is better than anything I have ever used and the turbo brush is phenominal. I have a mixture of tiled ceramic floors and rugs, I have three dogs. It lifts the pet hair with ease.
It is easy to manuover and to use. I will only ever buy this hoover again. I cannot fault it in any way!!!

The vacuum cleaner gives great results even with dog hair well
trodden into carpet being got up easily with a couple of passes
of the turbo brush.
It has a lot more suction than a henry, plus it has a
very long cable. This feels like a quality well made machine
that should hopefuly last a long time, it has metal casters
and a good quality woven hose. It has a very big dust bag with
suction remaining powerful until the bag gets absolutely full.
On the flip side it can give off stale odours, this may mean you
will want to change the bag long before it gets full thus making
running costs high.
Bags are expensive at around £12 for a pack of 4!
I have not found any cheaper pattern bags available as yet
and with the fancy plastic keyed fitting you have little chance
of making another fit.
However with the machine designed in such a way that it
won't operate unless an original bag is in place, it does protect it from
being run without a bag by mistake!
Having said that changing the bag is easy and straight forward.
It comes with a good set of practical tools in their own seperate
carry case though their is no on board tool storage.
In use the way that the tools clip onto the pipe is good in
that they never fall off whilst in use. The only
downside is that seperating them again can be tricky as it
may seem that you have to squeeze the clips quite hard until
you get the knack, at which point you will find that they do come
apart easily with a light squeezing and gentle twisting motion.

Cannot fault this, other than that you can't tell when the bag is full and requires changing without opening the body and checking. Very compact, and picks up more than your average vacuum, both on floorboards and carpet. Will always look to by bosch in the future based on this product.

Verified Purchase
I am totally delighted with the Bosch BSG8PRO1GB cleaner.

It had a good report in Which? and although dearer than some other Best Buys, I went for it and am very glad that I did.

With four levels of suction power, there is virtually nothing that it will not lift. At the highest level, it will raise the carpert off the floor!

It is sturdy and came with good accessories in a separate case.

Well done Bosch!

Gordon

Ok...so this isn't the cheapest vacuum cleaner on the market but it is the Which best buy and on the combination of wood/laminate/carpeted floors that we have, it is fantastic.

Suction is great, and the noise level is one of the quietest we have come across. Too early to tell how often we'll be changing bags but I'm sure I won't be complaining
