I received this machine and out of the box, the motor just would not start and the 13A fuse immediately blew. I decided to drill out both ends of the fuse with a 1mm drill and solder in a 0.8mm copper wire. This has about double the current carrying capacity of a standard 13A fuse. It then worked properly. Once started, it will restart easily. After it has run for a couple of hours, the motor and pump will start quite easily even with a 13A fuse. I suspect this design is really marginal with a 240V 13A supply and a new or not recently used machines will blow fuses. The starting process uses a lot of Amps. Incandescent lamps dim and florescent lamps flicker each time the motor starts. I think Bosch should consider a centrifugal clutch or a electrical clutch with a one or two second timer to minimise inrush current. Until then, if you are not comfortable with replacing the fuse as above, then this may not be the right machine for you. I live in an area with a nominal 240V (actually 245V rms) 50Hz power. At 220V or 230V 50Hz it may work differently.
Once it is working, the machine is very satisfactory. The rotating lance removes dirt, paint, moss and grass between paving slabs very quickly. It uses about 2900 Watts with the rotating lance and about 2650 Watts with the fan lance. When you are paying people to use a pressure washer, the faster it works the better and this machine cleans a lot faster than the 1700 Watt Bosch 1200 Plus that I also have. See my other review. Eye protection and proper clothing is absolutely vital with this machine. Dirt will definitely hit your face and your eyes if you don't have protection. Your shoes and trousers will become caked in mud, sand, paint or whatever you are cleaning.
