A rotary hammer is a power tool with a rotating machine tool for drilling in masonry, concrete and artificial or natural stone. It is equipped with a percussive hammer mechanism. The striking energy is independent of operator pressure. With the hammer mechanism turned off, the rotary hammer can be used like a drill; with the rotation mechanism turned off, it turns into a percussion hammer. Tool speed and impact force can be adjusted electronically to match the processed material.
Rotary hammers from Bosch are truly multi-talented tools: hammering, drilling and chiselling are combined in one tool. They are in their element not only when drilling in concrete with their pneumatic hammer mechanism, but also when producing and fitting solid wooden structures such as summer houses or carports.
The PBH 2000 RE gets all the jobs done: drilling holes, especially in concrete up to 20 mm drill diameter, screwdriving, drilling in wood or steel or chiselling in renovation projects at home, such as cutting electrical channels in concrete or removing bathroom or paving tiles. The PBH 2000 RE comes with a powerful 550-watt motor that ensures effortless hammering in concrete and masonry, chiselling and drilling
The pneumatic Bosch hammer mechanism has an impact energy of 1.5 joules. This gives high impact force in hard materials regardless of the feed pressure.

The average rotational speed of rotary hammers varies between 800 rpm and 1700 rpm. Impact drills have much higher rotational speeds, going from 2500-3000 rpm. The PBH 2000 RE reaches 2300 rpm. Fast removal of concrete dust, splints and other drilling material is just one of its advantages. In addition, the application spectrum has increased and it is now suitable for materials like wood and steel. The PBH 2000 RE allows impressive drilling in all diameters and high precision.
Whether hammering, chiselling, drilling or screwdriving, the selection switch ensures you have the right setting. The impact stop switches off the hammer mechanism when drilling in wood or metal and when screwdriving. The rotation stop switches off the rotary motion when chiselling.

Bosch SDS-Plus is ideal for rapid bit fitting. With the specially designed drill bits, this enables optimal power transfer from the machine. In addition to this, the Bosch SDS quick-change chuck allows tool-free changing of the SDS-plus fitting and the standard chuck for normal straight-shank drill or screwdriver bits.
The low weight of 2.2 kg and ergonomic slimline design gives added user comfort for effortless drilling and fatigue-free working. Softgrip gives the user a better grip and control of the machine.
The Bosch Electronic speed control allows the user to ‘accelerate’ from 0-max using the trigger switch.

Bought this drill to replace my existing bosch drill which has served me well for 15 years. This is an excellent product which will serve any DIY'er well. Plenty of power to carry out the jobs I will use it for. SDS makes life easy and the chisel attachment ( bought seperate )made taking my fireplace down a lot easier than by hand.

This drill makes work on concrete etc. a piece of cake. Easy peasy. Make sure you use the depth limiter, as it drills through anything very easily indeed.
It's also light in weight, and I like the rubberised finish. You can feel the quality. A few years ago I bought a cheap drill from a high street DIY store, and it struggled with most jobs. How I wish I had bought this one in the first place.
