My son got this for his 3rd birthday. His older sister who is 4.5 has the Dora one she got when she was 3 so he was thrilled to get a bike like his big sister. It was easy enough to assemble and my son now rides it well. The only problem we have had is with the stabilisers. They were tricky to put on and we find they do become loose and need adjusting quite often. Apart from that I would say it is an ideal first bike.
