When first hearing this song on one of the TV cable music channels, I couldn't decide whether it was actually really good or really bad: it was potential a case of the singer singing completely out of tune in a song in which various sections of the song just didn't seem to gel; or, alternatively, she was a genius, challenging popular perceptions of how music should sound.
I went on to You Tube and listened to it over and over again. I went so far as to ask colleagues, friends and family whether this could be consider good, as I couldn't make up my own mind.
However, the sultry singing, haunting melody, and the shifting flow of the song really does grow on you, and after hearing it like a few dozen times, it's turned out to be one of my favourites of 2012 (in opposition to the views given by others whose opinion I asked).
Lana is kind of pretty in the music video too...
