Born Fearless starts where most military memoirs end in regards to writing about what a soldier does when he leaves the army. In the case of Big Phil Campion he becomes a private military contractor - and Born Fearless chronicles the author's adventures, from providing security to an Ambassador in Kabul to fighting off pirates in Somalia. The author is frank about both his past and his sometimes violent and difficult occupation - yet as with most soldiers a healthy sense of humour also shines through.

Would recommend this book to both soldiers and anyone who enjoys Andy MacNab or Lee Childs.

The Real Deal! 8 Mar 2012
By CMC29
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video
I made an earlier post questioning Big Phil's story, I take this back with a big slice of humble pie and apologies (and now 5 stars), he is the real deal. A mate of mine in Hereford and somewhere else I defo can't say checked him out as legit. I think the book might be a bit fanciful in parts but hey so are lots of the great SAS books. Good luck Phil and ill check my sources first to make it easier before doing any reviews again.
Just finished reading it too, love the fridge story and sinking a pirate ship!
You need to write another book maybe with more stories about time in the forces, I look forward to buying it if so.

Born Bragger 23 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video
I am an ex-3Para and saw active service in Suez in the fifties. I also managed and trained professional boxers. I have young friends still working in security in Iraq and with the SAS so I know a thing or two about hard men. I bought this book because I still enjoy learning about other peoples experiences in this area. Whilst "Big Phil" may well have been a soldier and a securty guard, he depicts himself as a cross between Superman, King Kong and Mike Tyson and his descriptions, from someone who has been-there-done-that, do not ring true. He has gone OTT and spoiled what could have been an interesting Autobiography.
