Product Description

Product Description

"Born in England" is the unofficial England anthem for Euro 2004 and seven pence from every sale of this single will to go the Help a Local Child charity. Sony-award-winning DJ Christian O'Connell ran a competition on his XFM breakfast show to find an unofficial anthem for this summer's UEFA European Championships, and this is it. Featuring the Libertines, Supergrass, Bernard Butler, the Delays, James Nesbitt (Cold Feet, Murphy's Law) and the writers of the song, the Wheatleys, this singalong patriotic terrace song brings together some of the best UK bands, Christian's talent for self-publicity and football.

This is definitely the greatest footy anthem since the original Three Lions. Remember how good it felt standing in the pub singing along to Three Lions during Euro 96 and France 98? Well, just imagine how good it'll feel to sing along this one after we've spanked the French in the opening game of Euro 2004, and all the way to the final. Don't bother with the shoddy FA remix of an old song. Born in England is the only real footy song for England, written for the people, by the people...

If this song could it would look like the white cliffs of Dover, smell like granny's pink icing cakes, taste like a 99 flake ice cream, feel like a burnt forehead and go down like a pint of Speckled Hen for in this clear plastic casing sits a piece of little England. Mightier, cheerier and more rousing than any other footy song ever, this is the start of a new era for the boys in Portugal. Come on England!

5.0 out of 5 stars I was born in England 31 May 2004

This song is without doubt the tune of the summer. Chosen by the listeners to Xfm's breakfast show, and even sung by some 500 of them (myself included) it really is a great footie anthem. Support our biys as they do their duty in Portugal by doing your duty and buying this record. It MUST be number 1!
