Product Description

Dimple Lala doesn't know what to think. She's spent her whole life resisting her parents' traditions. But now she's turning 17 and things are more complicated than ever. She's still recovering from a year-old break-up, and her best friend isn't around the way she used to be. Then, to make matters worse, her parents arrange for her to meet a "suitable boy". Of course, it doesn't go well, until Dimple goes to a club and finds him spinning a magical web of words and music. Suddenly the suitable boy is suitable because of his sheer unsuitability. Complications ensue.

This is a story about finding yourself, finding your friends, finding love, and finding your culture, sometimes where you least expect it.

I picked this book last easter needing a soppy teenage novel to fill the days instead (thankfully)i gained a book that will never leave me. Funny, emotive, with a believable protagonist who does what we all do one time or another in our lives,learn something new about herself and enviorment. She experiences love, dilemas, desires and learns the truth. I would recommend this book to anyone, you don't have to be of a particular race to enjoy and understand the book, as may be suggested due to the cover, 'Born Confused' deals with universal themes, so all you have to do is love a good story because that is what you will get:)

When I first bought this book, I was worried that it would be too cheesy, or that I wouldn't understand it, due to the fact that it's about an american-indian girl trying to find her identity - and I'm just english. But wow. Born Confused is so beautiful, but hilarious too. You can relate to it whoever you are, and the author writes it in such a beautiful way. The book is everlastingly inspirational, tackles not-just-teenage issues, and is a complete one-off. I love it and recommend it to anyone, of any age.

This book is the best I have read in a really long time. It's about an Indian girl named Dimple Lala whos parents want her to like a guy named Karsh. However, she doesn't like him at all, at least not at first, until her best friend Gwyen starts to go out with him. This book isn't just about stuff like that, it also includes Kavira and Sabina, Kavita being Dimiple's cousin...and something else, can't give anything away! Also it has Zara, a drag queen. I don't want to give anything away but this is such a good book! It really makes me think about life differently, like, live every day like its your last. It is a really one-of-a kind book and you should SO read it! I really reccomend it!
