My nieces (ages 4 and 7) enjoyed this book, and the different fonts and busy illustrations give adults something to enjoy too. But it's worth pointing out that this is the same book as "Colin and the Snoozebox".

Quirky fun for my 4 year old. 3 Sept. 2008
By X-Mommy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I picked this book out for my 4-yr-old son. It's a cute story, and the design of the book is especially GREAT. It has a very expressive layout, with use of different fonts, and lots of fun with language. I was pleased to discover my son likes it as much as I do, and we've read it for the past four nights. It's the type of book that has much to discover on each page. LOVE IT!
**3.5 Stars" Great Art 2 Oct. 2009
By aaa-Pam - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
The artwork in "Boris and the Snoozebox" is absolutely delightful. It's mixed media and is just the sort of thing that I think would stimulate anyone to trying to do something of their own in a similar vein. In style, it reminds me of Lauren Child of "Charlie and Lola" fame. And truly the book has that much visual appeal. Really a lot of fun!

Where's it's lacking though is in the plot department. There is a story -- Boris the cat doesn't have a home and he very much wants a comfy place to sleep, but unfortunately he chooses a box for his nap. The box gets shipped around the world and ends up in some surprising places. But unfortunately none of the openers of the box want a cat. That is, until he arrives at Grandma Flapjacks -- but unfortunately there's no real moral or anything to learn from the story. Which leaves me liking the book, very much on account of the fun artwork, but not loving it.

Talking Points:::
o Definitely LibraryFind here. The artwork is fun and the format is amusing.

o Elementary School-aged Kids will be entertained. It's a fun book to share. HOWEVER, while I do recommend it as LibraryFind, I can't recommend it for purchase because it's got no 'meat'.

o The busy font motif might be too much for very young children. This is one of those books where the font changes frequently, and where information is put in varying places.
Beautiful Artwork! 13 May 2010

The artwork in this book is lovely. It is bright and colorful. However, the bright artwork, plus the crazy fonts make for a challenging read. The story is mediocre- it really could have been better. My children were impressed by the bright colors, but got tired of the book quickly. The font and the pictures leave you feeling very scatterbrained.
Boris the cat is homeless. He falls asleep in a box. He is shipped over and over, each time the recipient of the box doesn't want Boris. He finally finds a home in the end. No turns, no twists, just a cat in a box.

My daughter loves this story. We both enjoyed the illustrations. The fonts used are all different which adds to the interest!
Creative, Funny and Beautifully Illustrated! 18 Dec. 2012
By Sally - Published on Amazon.com
I debated getting this book for my 3-year-olds because as other reviewers have mentioned, the fonts are kind of busy. I was worried that it may be confusing for them. I was happily wrong. They love this book! My daughter has to sleep with it at night. "This is such a silly book, Mommy" she says over and over. Boris the cat is simply looking for a place to sleep when he gets packed up and shipped off to different people who aren't expecting him and don't want a cat. The story is absolutely endearing with a happy ending and an important message: nobody wants to be told that they aren't wanted. Just like Boris, most of us just want to be snuggled from time to time. The art is incredibly creative and unique compared to other children's books--and believe me, I've read hundreds. Another fun part of this book is the humor that is layered for different developmental levels. There's things that I get that I know my kids won't for a few years. It's great to find a book that feels like it was written for me too! I can't wait to check out the author's other books.
