Product Description

The saga of the Borgias and the lives of Leonardo da Vinci and the young Machiavelli form the accurate historical background of this murder mystery, set in the opulence of Renaissance Rome and Milan. Machiavelli's illegitimate daughter and his bewitching ex-mistress will solve three murders with help from da Vinci and Lucrezia Borgia--including the murder of Lucrezia's real-life half sister.

A pretty clear reflection of a very interesting period in the social life of a people that has created a most magnificient period of art and architecture in Italy of the present. Opening a window into the lives of some very famous people like Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia), Caesar Borgia, Lucrecia Borgia, some of the Sforzas and Machiavelli, the book gave me a different kind of joy of reading.

1.0 out of 5 stars A borgia daughter dies 30 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was disappointed with this story because it dragged way too much to find the real culprit. There was no excitement to fill in the gaps. Just a bunch of nuns and girls trying to solve a mystery but only when maestro Leonardo da vinci shows up that all is solved. I wasn't impressed with this read and wouldn't recommend it

1.0 out of 5 stars Woeful. Ridiculous 17 Sep 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This story was just a string of historical names barely held together by a ridiculous plot. The characters were unengaging and the final outcome predictable. What a disappointment.

This is an interesting way to introduce you to the Italian vendettas of the middle ages. It introduces magor players of the time in an interesting fictional story. Great to have a fictional female detective in action amongst the real key talents of the age.

I really enjoyed this book, and the fact that all the characters are historically recognised made it even better. Very believable characters. I'd highly recommend it

3.0 out of 5 stars It's ok
I expected a little more from this, and got a bit bored with the main character - seems unlikely she could realistically do the things she does in the book
