made for you!
while none of the bands featured on this comp ever made it big (although there are one or two famous names!), there are sounds on here that deserved a wider audience when they were first launched on an unsuspecting public. being proper punk diy releases, the chances of them getting a good hearing were slim.....my band - the negatives- were played on john peel, and featured in his top 100 singles, and many of the other bands were played regularly by the great man. without him, most of the music on here would never have been made; we all owe him a lot. no x-factor rubbish - all the songs on here were written from the heart....not to make money, but to make the players happy- and hopefully make the listeners dance! at the launch of the cd - at the wilmington arms in london september 09 - some of the bands re-formed for the first time in nearly 30 years.....with little rehearsal time, they still managed to make an impact. how many of the faceless wonders appearing on 'talent' contests on prime time tv will be able to do the same? i wonder.......
well done to detour records for keeping the spirit alive, and searching out these slices of british music history....dizzy, we salute you!!!
