Product Description

This beautifully written and photographed book takes us on an evocative journey through the appellations of Bordeaux. Discover the many and varied regions of Bordeaux from Margaux to St-Emilion, from the Medoc to Graves. Savour the wines produced there, and understand how the climate, the soil and the people make the wines what they are. Visit the chateaux, villages and vineyards of Bordeaux and meet the men and women who, every year, turn baskets of grapes into the bottles of wine that are among the most sought-after in the world. Along the way, Robert Joseph introduces us to figures who have shaped the history of Bordeaux. He also shares anecdotes about famous Bordeaux-lovers from Samuel Pepys to Richard Nixon.

Robert Joseph is a Wine Guild award-winning writer and was wine correspondent for The Sunday Telegraph for 16 years. He is also chairman of the International Wine Challenge and author of more than 20 books, including the annually produced Good Wine Guide. He is the founder of Wine Magazine.

First Sentence

Brilliant photography and inspiring words 29 Feb 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
If you love great photography and are bored by all the predictable efforts that appear in most wine books, this is for you! Some of the shots by Max Alexander are really breathtaking, and, like the text, they really give a sense of the place. A terrific, affordable coffee table book
