[[ASIN:1405210826 The Otter Who Wanted to Know My daughter is eager to listen to any story (not really a 'fantasy' fan though and I am sick to death of Rainbow Magic, we have exchausted Enid Blyton and are working through the Worst Witch series. Have enjoyed the series including 'The Owl who was afraid of the dark' and not yet ready for Clarice Bean etc. What can I give her for Christmas to take her reading enjoyment further?
I see that this post is quite old, but I would recommend Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf really funny short stories. I loved them when I was 7, and most children I've tried them with really liked them too. Also, Pippi Longstocking and Moomintroll books, and Dick King-Smith.
