Karen says:
Any suggestions of books for Xmas which will interest an 8 year old girl who is not confident yet to read on on her own? I am looking for recommendations for reading which will enthrall her and encourage her reading

Many thanks

Matilda by Roald Dahl, The Naughtiest Girl in the School series by Enid Blyton. Otherwise known as Sheila the Great by Judy Blume. My eight year old daughter likes Horrid Henry (I'm not keen but reading that is better than nothing) Winnie the Witch (there are some mini-Winnie's which are smaller in size and longer than the norm) and she is into Harry Potter now but I wonder how much she has actuallly taken in from the questions she asks.
