Product Description

Product Description

Though the legend of the Unicorn is shrouded in mystery, it continues to seize the imagination and inspire artists-as it has for millennia. At last, there is a magnificent volume that gathers all that is known about these sublime creatures. Filled with remarkable illustrations by Linda and Roger Garland, this definitive study charts the mythology of the Unicorn through the ages and in different civilizations, and explores both the myths as well as documented sightings. A wealth of beautiful paintings capture both the ferocious nature and the mystic isolation of this ethereal animal, bringing it fully to life. A treasure for anyone who seeks to know and understand the Unicorn.

Beautiful Artwork 25 Jan 2001
By Stephanie N. Small - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I liked this book because of the great artwork. The artwork is done to a number of old stories about the unicorn, and the pictures portray a renewed vigor to the old stories. Garland goes into depth about the asian unicorn as well, and does great pictures to it as well. I recommend this as an emerging classic for unicorn lovers and fantasy artists!

Absolutely Wonderful 9 Jun 2005
By Bridgett - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is one of my favorite unicorn books. It's not especially long, but covers a wide range of unicorn myths from around the world. The illustrations are gorgeous and suit the myths well (there is a bit of variation in illustration style to better suit the stories). All in all a beautiful book suitable for any unicorn or folklore fan.
Beautiful 2 Sep 2006

This is a wonderful book for anyone interested in unicorns and/or mythology. One of the main points of this book is that there really isn't very much known about these animals. There aren't very many popular stories or legends of unicorns. Despite the fact that they're one of the more popular creatures of fantasy, they don't appear much in fantasy stories or movies. I found this intriguing and began thinking about why I like them so much. I certainly can't remember any specific story or event from my childhood that sparked my interest. All I know is that I have always been fascinated by them.

Anyway, the book claims to contain all of the known legends that have been written about unicorns from several different cultures. There is also a history of the unicorn. The illustrations are lovely, some breathtaking. A definite must have for any fantasy lover.

**As there is some partial nudity, you should look through this book thoroughly before allowing any small children to view it.**
