Some of Scotland's best writers discussing the books that influenced them.,
By Monty Archibald "HeavyMetalMonty" (west coast of Scotland) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: The Book That Changed My Life (Paperback)
The experiences of many Scottish-based writers make up this book. The premise of 'The Book That Changed My Life' is simple: each contributor chooses one book that influenced him or her more than any other, gives a brief synopsis of it, then tells how and why it had such a profound effect. My personal favourite was Mark Rice's description of 'The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy', which - in his words - 'blended the profound and the preposterous', as well as 'raising the bar for creativity run amok'.
In addition to contributions from Scottish actor Brian Cox, poet and novelist Tom Bryan, and author of the 'No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency' series Alexander McCall Smith, lesser-known writers and celebrity Scots have their say about the books that altered their lives. The result: honest, exposed and heartfelt recollections of books which have the potential to widen one's worldview. With over 70 contributors, you'll probably already have discovered some of the chosen books, but chances are you'll also discover some new literary avenues to explore, ones that will perhaps change your life too.

The Book that changd my life,

This review is from: The Book That Changed My Life (Paperback)
I was very disappointed because this title and author as it appears in your page implies it is a new story by this author NOT as it turns out a compilation of short stories by other people, which I assume he's put together.
So in consequence I have returned the book and await a full refund- and indeed for the cost of postage. I very seldom have cause to return items ordered from Amazon, but sadly I have had to on thisoccasion. Hermione Stewart, Garrucha, Almeria, Spain.
