The first in George R. R. Martin's epic series that includes A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords, A Game of Thrones gives readers of the fantasy genre exactly what they want: romance, mystery, intrigue, adventure, and a ticket to a world unlike any other. The series as a whole is a modern masterpiece, earning major trophies and awards. Our sidekick to A Game of Thrones is your virtual best friend, as together we analyze the plot, characters, setting, and much more. A storm is brewing. The seasons are unbalanced. Winterfell faces the onslaught of cold, as well as sinister forces that lurk outside the protective Wall.

Our sidekick of A Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire explains the novel's major themes, including the corruptibility of power. The Starks are at the epicenter of it all, as a harsh family in an equally harsh land. From brutally cold landscapes to a kingdom basking in summertime, Martin's tale covers it all: lords, sorcerers, soldiers, assassins, and ladies; all gathering at a time when grim omens abound. There are plots, sub-plots, and counterplots, all detailing sheer terror, betrayals, tragedies, and the Stark family's fate. The deadliest game of all is being waged throughout the lands: the game of thrones. A Game of Thrones lends itself greatly to discussion, and our sidekick gives you a leg up with included questions and responses.

BookBuddy is not affiliated with or endorsed by George R. R. Martin or his publisher. We always provide 100% independent commentary and critical analysis.

As you enjoy George R. R. Martin's novel, take your reading to the next level with this sidekick!

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps things clear- love it! 8 July 2014

My daughter and her husband just RAVED about George Martin’s series, Game of Thrones. I decided to pick it up. While it has taken me some time to delve into the complexity of the stories, I am really enjoying it. I was discussing with my daughter the issues I had keeping some of the story straight and she suggested I get this sidekick. I am so glad she did! It really helps keep things clear, and helps me have a deeper appreciation of the stories and characters. I’m nearly three quarters of the way through the first book of the series, and love to pick up the sidekick and use the info to keep my son in law on his toes.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love Another Perspective 8 July 2014

My wife already purchased and read the entire Game of Thrones series. She tried to get me into, but I wasn’t really interested. Once they made it into a TV show, I decided to sit down and read it. Anyone who has watched the show or read the books can tell you that Game of Thrones is very involved! However, I absolutely loved it, and wanted to delve more into Mr. Martin’s work. My wife has used these sidekicks before, and suggested I check and see if there is one for this title. Lucky me, there is! I really love the breakdowns and the insight that the author provides. It is interesting to go into the books and see someone else’s perspective of what I have read. I’m thinking I will pick up the rest of the series as well.
5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE GoT 6 July 2014

I absolutely love the Game of Thrones series. I am currently on book 5. However, the further I get into the series, the more the plot details of the early books slip away. I decided to try the book buddy to brush up. I love the author’s word choices and the way each chapter is set up to follow a different character. It is unique from anything else I have read. I loved the examples of the corruptibility of power, as I missed some of the implications the first time around. I meant to read this instead of reading the whole book again, but now that I remember everything I may just have to pick it back up off the shelf. Now if only I could get my wife to watch the show with me, I’d be set.
5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a guide to understanding the book! 6 July 2014

I am one of the thousands of people that have fallen in love with the Game of Thrones series on HBO. After watching the third season I decided that I wanted to read the books do to hearing that they are better but after multiple tries I was having a hard time understanding the book. This guide was so very helpful thanks to the writing analysis, in-depth look into the world that George R.R. Martin built in the Game of Thrones series, Character reference list, and Analysis of key characters. Needless to say the last two are by far the most helpful when characters come and go as much as they do in both the books and the television series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Although corruptibility is translated I think that good can still prevail over evil with patience 5 July 2014

Being a book lover rather than a show watcher, I’d rather read a book and understand the meaning than watch a show. Game of Thrones became really popular as a book years ago. TV has taken the message that game of thrones gives and glamorized it. Sidekick took the book and actually gave it meaning to me again. It actually inspired me to re-read the book and apply the analysis from Sidekick to the book. Although corruptibility is translated I think that good can still prevail over evil with patience. This analysis though was a great read.
