5.0 out of 5 stars A good read 19 July 2013

I had not heard of Mrs Lang but she writes as if she knew each character personally. She has a great deal of detail for each person and produces facts which make you wonder if she was actually living life at the same time as her heroes. Very enjoyable.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting stories 23 Mar 2014
By Thomas K. Sheppard - Published on
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The stories are interesting and reveal some points of history that most Americans may have largely ignored or been ignorant of completely. Written in 1905, so it is an older style of writing and will likely never be a best seller. I would call the prose workman like, but not masterful.

Unfortunately even that faint praise is better than many books today deserve. At least you will not find this book riddled with grammatical and spelling errors
