For those of us that are of a certain age, Dream Evil are very very remainisent of Saxon. Musicaly there a modern metal band but lyrically there very Saxon`ish. They have lots of songs about Heavy Metal. Cheesey Cheesey Cheesey, but to be fair there kinda fun & god no`s fun is the one thing that most Metal bands of the current era really really need to get back to doing ! Just look at the list of song titles to get an idea of what`s on offer. "The Sledge" "Crusader`s Anthem" "Lets Make Rock" you get the picture !

The backing vocals are pure Manowar !!Big boomy vocals singing Man Or Mouse !! it`s impossible not to laugh. Great Fun !! The best track on this album "Into The Moonlight" is a great track. Good catchy riff & good delivery. There`s lots of good catchy riffs & tunes here but you will have to look beyond the Cheese lyrics. If you can`t then avoid but if you can then this is a fun album & you should find it entertaining if a little Spinal Tap `ish occasionaly.

I get the impression when listening to this CD that Dream Evil listened to a bunch of Judas Priest and Ozzy Osborne albums and thought "we could do that!"....and so they have.

It's hardly a bad thing to sound like the mighty Priest. All the elements are in place, the high quality vocalist (whose range is very impressive), cheesy lyrics (the album starts with a high pitch screamed "METAAAAAAAAL!" what more can you ask for.....) and grinding guitars. It is PROPER old school metal.

There are similarities to other artists in this album too, "Unbreakable Chain" is very reminiscent of Zepplin's "Stairway to Heaven". The track "Chosen Twice" has the sort of operatic choral backing that would be quite at home (and perhaps better done) on a Nightwish album and on occaision Dream Evil's lead singer reminds me strongly of Dream Theater's vocalist James LaBrie.

Despite the fact that this album is very unoriginal it is still fantastic to listen to. In my opinion Metal should be, above all, entertaining. This offering from Dream Evil succeeds with this admirably. For fans of old school metal this is bloody good fun.

Waiting for my hard copy, but have listened to it on Auto-rip. I have had a soft spot for Dream Evil ever since seeing them in the pouring rain at Bloodstock some years ago. Okay this album is cheesy - but so are a lot of bands of this genre.Okay so it doesn't have the technical mastery of say Dream Theater or Mastodon, although the production is top notch - to these deafened ears anyway. It makes a change to listening to all the po-faced nu-metal stuff and hankers after a simpler time when metal was fun (and can still be). Definately an album to down a few beers to, relax and rock out. If you like Manowar, Turisas, Alestorm and the like, then take a punt on this album. It's what I'll be playing a lot of until Opeth's new album comes out later this month. KEEP IT METAL!

This is the 3rd Dream Evil I have bought, and rate it third. I only like 5 out of the 12 tracks. The first Dream Evil album I bought Dragonslayer I liked 11 out of 12 tracks. I think on this album the bass drum rythmn section swamps the tracks, giving it a bit of a Grunge Rock feel. Dream Evil seem to have gone from early Judas Priest to a poormans Iced Earth.
