3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting concept, 14 Aug 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of the Future (Comic Relief) (Paperback)
This book is linked to a BBC community website 'On the Future' and all the material used in the book was written and submitted via the website and rated for inclusion by members of the public. It's an interesting idea. The book contains articles and comments written by the public, some are funny, some are a bit off the wall.

Worth buying if you're one of the writers and interesting enough to buy and dip into from time to time if you're not. A possible stocking filler for a bloke who's keen on science?

4.0 out of 5 stars Made me smile!, 20 Aug 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of the Future (Comic Relief) (Paperback)
Now sitting next to the loo, this is a quirky "pick me up and read a couple of pages" type book that's brought a smile to my face on more than a couple of occasions. As with any book written by loads of contributors, there are a few duds, but on the whole it's well recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars An esoteric pot-pourri, 22 Aug 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of the Future (Comic Relief) (Paperback)
A somewhat unusual mixture of straight, serious articles e.g Michael Meacher's "Green and Easy" and Zac Goldsmith's on ecology and some amusing and some extremely trivial ones. The book is illustrated with excellent cartoons which highlight the points made. Some of the visions of 2020 are thought provoking and ingenious especially concerning future sources of energy and food but many are depressing. I particularly enjoyed the GP's view of computer aided health checks and diagnosis. I found it an easy read, very useful for all those long waits at airports and hospitals.
