I am also a huge Nektar fan from way back when. I was one of those who forked over I can't remember how much to help defray the costs to make this C.D. And yes, it took a long, long time to get it. However, musically it is pretty good, in fact it is in my car CD player right now. It is my understanding, and I could be wrong, that Roye played all the instruments on this album and recorded it. The first song, Krakatoa, starts out great with some nice sounding guitar work, then UGH...the vocals sound terrible. I have listened to this over and over and I can't understand why it sounds so bad. My wife heard it and said the same thing. Musically, I like the song, but I don't know what happened to the vocals. King of the Deep and Lamorna are both good, but Dr Kool is my favorite song on the disc. The lyrics are great, as Roye sings about the passing of time and how some people try to slow it down with cosmetic surgery. Where Are You Now and Book of Days finish it up, and both songs are stellar in my opinion. This isn't the greatest Nektar C.D. I've ever heard, but it isn't as bad as someone here thinks. Sounds like he might have an axe to grind. Certainly there were mistakes made along the way, but hey...we got a new Nektar C.D. Don't take life so seriously, man.
P.S. This CD can be purchased for much less. Try the Nektar site or C.D. Universe.
