I Lost the C.D and serached everywhere If you don't see the film but love funky non mainstream classic tracks from the swinging 70's this is a classic buy for all you Roller Girls and Dirk Digglers out there.

A great soundtrack should bring the film rushing back to you. Or is that a great film comes rushing back to you when you hear the soundtrack? Either way, thats exactly what this does for me. Boogie Nights is an excellent film; warm, funny and sad. When I hear God Only Knows its guaranteed to bring a tear to the eye as I see the 'family' going through some tough times. There are some wonderfully sleazy 70s tunes that somehow make you feel you are a part of the loveable San Fernando valley crowd we get to meet in the film like Spill the Wine and I cant hear Brand New Key without seeing Roller Girl. To top it all off we get to hear Feel the Heat from the launch of Dirk Diggler's distinguished recording career. Buy it if you liked the film and if you havent seen the film, do so.

Yes, it is on this soundtrack. You Got The Touch, sung by Mark Wahlberg in his character as Dirk Diggler, or should I say Brock Landers (fans of the movie know...).
This hilarious song, written by Michael Penn, who cameos as the producer in the studio, is sung so bad that it's funny. If you are looking for the whole track, look no further. It is hidden after track 13, the instrumental coda Theme from Boogie Nights. You'll know for sure when that track clocks in at a lengthy 9.58. That is because of this extra song. The other bit that Mark Wahlberg did with John C. Reilly on guitar in the movie starts off this album.
The rest of this soundtrack is A-OK. You know, if you saw the movie.

I bought this ost CD on Amazon for two reasons - It features MArk Whalberg singing 'You got touch' aka Feel the Heat....by Brock Landers and Dirk Diggler.
Also, the CD cost less than][.

It features many great tracks by Eric Bourdon, Marvin Gaye, The Commodores , ELO and the Beach Boys to name a few.

Dirk Diggler (Mark Whaberg) - "What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again"

The movie Boogie Nights is a classic in every sense, one of the reasons is the soundtrack every song had to work to make the scenes worthwhile, and this cd sums up the movie in great style. We should be thankful that they released a second CD that was equally brillant.
