Product Description

Boobela is a giant. A young, shy, and rather lonely giant. Worm is a worm. Wise and opinionated, but above all, he's a clever and loyal friend. They live in a world that's a lot like ours, but not quite.

When Boobela meets Worm, she has the chance to overcome her fears, pursue her strange and magical powers, and have lots of funny, exciting, and heart-stopping adventures with the kids at the balloon club, on her gran's magic island, and at the beach.

By Mrs. K. A. Wheatley TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
I have three children, 8, 4 and 18 months, boys and girls. They all love these stories. Boobela is a giant girl, eight years old. Her parents are away exploring the jungles for plant medicines and her grandmother has to go home to her grandfather leaving Boobela alone and lonely. She befriends worm and their unlikely friendship gives them both courage, strength and the ability to go on marvellous adventures.

As an adult I have to say that the writing style doesn't appeal. There are random plot holes and quirky sentence structures which drove me mad. The children didn't notice and wouldn't care. The illustrations are fantastic and they all love them.

The book is nicely laid out with three long stories and lots of little additions along the way. This is clearly the start of a series as the last story ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. The children are already clamouring for the next book.

This is a lovely book with quirky illustrations. All our four kids plus 2 adults read it with relish, which is in itself quite an achievement! Do yourself a favour. Beg, borrow or as a last resort even buy it!!

This One Is A Must 7 Oct 2007
Format:Paperback
A great children's story about magic and empathy. The author evoked a playful feeling in me as I read it to my granddaughter. Even as adults we can all learn a lesson in loving honesty from Worm. He tells Boobela her feet stink with genuine concern and it's such a delight to watch their relationship grow. The characters are alive and the illustrations are just lovely.
